  • Water Supply Challenges in Matlosana: Planned and Unplanned Interruptions Affect Communities

Residents across the City of Matlosana are experiencing a series of water-related disruptions, both scheduled and unexpected. From planned maintenance in Klerksdorp to unforeseen technical breakdowns in Tigane, Hartbeesfontein, and parts of Matlosana, communities are being urged to use water sparingly while officials work on solutions. These interruptions highlight the importance of infrastructure upkeep and the challenges municipalities face in ensuring reliable water delivery. Image: The Go-To Guy Creations Planned Water Interruption in Klerksdorp A scheduled water supply interruption has been announced for Klerksdorp. The planned disruption will be caused by cleaning and disinfection of the Oudorp Reservoirs, an essential process to maintain water quality standards. Details of the planned interruption include: Timeframe:  From 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM Areas affected:  Freemanville, Declerqville, Elandsheuwel, Rooseheuwel, and Meiringspark During this period, residents may experience low water pressure or no supply at all. The municipality has encouraged all consumers in these areas to use water sparingly and make necessary preparations for the temporary interruption. Breakdown at Rietkuil Pumpstation: Tigane & Hartbeesfontein In addition to the planned outage, residents of Tigane and Hartbeesfontein are already grappling with an unexpected water supply interruption. The problem stems from a breakdown at the Rietkuil Pumpstation , which has left entire communities facing low pressure to no water at all. Municipal technical teams are working on repairs, though no specific timeline has been provided for the restoration of full service. In the interim, water tankers are being dispatched  to supply affected households with basic water needs. Transformer Trip Disrupts Midvaal Water Supply Another challenge has arisen in the Midvaal Water Supply area within the City of Matlosana. The issue traces back to Eskom’s Strathvaal substation , where a transformer tripped due to excessive moisture in transformer oil. This occurred on Wednesday, 10 September at around 14:00 and reduced power supply to the Midvaal Water Company’s treatment plant. As a result, pumping capacity has been restricted, directly impacting the municipality’s ability to deliver potable water. Recovery of the water system is expected by Friday, 12 September after midday , according to municipal statements. Residents across various suburbs will continue to feel the effects until the system stabilises. Broader Impact on Residents For many households, the simultaneous occurrence of a planned maintenance shutdown and unexpected technical faults presents considerable inconvenience. Families, businesses, schools, and healthcare facilities in affected areas will need to adjust daily routines around these limitations. Authorities have strongly advised residents to store water where possible  and prioritize essential needs during this time. These disruptions also serve as a reminder of the ongoing reliance on aging infrastructure and the pressures that maintenance and natural wear-and-tear place on service delivery. Closing Thoughts The current situation in Matlosana underscores both the necessity of proactive infrastructure maintenance and the unpredictability of technical failures. While planned interventions such as the cleaning of reservoirs are vital for long-term water quality, sudden equipment breakdowns and electrical faults expose vulnerabilities in the system. For residents, resilience and preparedness are key as they adapt to these temporary challenges. For municipalities, the focus remains on restoring supply and ensuring stability in the days ahead. 💧🚰 #TheGoToGuy #MatlosanaWaterUpdate #Klerksdorp #Tigane #Hartbeesfontein #MidvaalWater #ServiceDelivery #CommunityResilience #WaterInterruption

  • Klerksdorp, Let’s Help: Give the Gift of Learning This September

September is recognized as Basic Education and Literacy Month , a time to reflect on the transformative power of learning and to take action in strengthening access to education. In Klerksdorp, the Rotaract Club of Klerksdorp  has stepped forward with an initiative that is both simple and impactful: collecting old books, stationery, and learning materials to be donated to schools in need. The Need for Literacy Support South Africa continues to face a literacy crisis. Research shows that: 81% of Grade 4 learners  struggle to read with comprehension. 43% of homes  with children have no books at all. Only 8% of schools  have usable libraries. Children who are read to daily can gain 1.4 million words  before they even start school. These numbers paint a sobering picture. For many children, the lack of books is not just an inconvenience, it is a barrier to opportunity. Improving literacy is not simply about learning to read; it is about nurturing confidence, imagination, and a lifelong love of learning. Be Part of the Solution Rotaract Klerksdorp is inviting the community to support local learners through three key actions: Donate Educational Supplies Drop off old books, stationery, or learning materials at Ronmar’s office  in Flamwood. At the end of September, Rotaract will deliver the collected items to local schools.📍 Address: 73 Platan Ave, Flamwood, Klerksdorp, 2572 Mentor a Learner Offer your time to help a young student with reading or homework. Even a small commitment can make a big difference in building literacy skills and academic confidence. Start a “Read Together” Circle Gather family, friends, or neighbors once a week to read with children. Shared stories foster stronger literacy, deeper imagination, and stronger bonds within the community. A Call to Action This September, every donation and every moment spent mentoring can help shape the future of a child. Books that once gathered dust on shelves can find new life in eager hands. Stationery and learning materials that seem small to some can unlock big opportunities for others. By joining hands with Rotaract Klerksdorp, the community has the chance to inspire a new generation of confident readers and lifelong learners . Together, we can bring hope, curiosity, and possibility to local schools, one book at a time. 📞 For more info, contact Ansja: 072 906 2520 📚 💛 ✨ 📖 #TheGoToGuy #Klerksdorp #GiftOfLearning #KlerksdorpCares #ReadTogether #LiteracyForAll

The meetings form part of the Ward Delimitation 2025 process , managed by the Municipal Demarcation Board (MDB)  in partnership with the municipality. Image: The Go-To Guy Creations Why Ward Delimitation Matters Ward delimitation is the process of redrawing municipal ward boundaries to ensure fair representation during elections. The MDB oversees this process nationwide, guided by population changes, community input, and legislative requirements. Public consultations are a critical part of this process, giving residents and stakeholders an opportunity to review draft ward maps, ask questions, and submit alternative proposals . For JB Marks, this step is especially significant as it will determine how communities in Potchefstroom, Ventersdorp, and surrounding areas are represented in council. The final ward configurations will directly influence voting districts, service delivery planning, and how local voices are reflected in decision-making. Consultation Sessions in JB Marks The JB Marks Local Municipality has scheduled three consultation sessions across the region: Potchefstroom Region Wednesday, 17 September 2025 Venue: Madiba Banqueting Halls Time: 09:00 – 13:00 Potchefstroom Region (Afternoon) Wednesday, 17 September 2025 Venue: OR Tambo Community Hall Time: 14:00 – 17:00 Ventersdorp Region Thursday, 18 September 2025 Venue: Extension 02 Community Hall Time: 09:00 – 13:00 The sessions will provide the public with access to draft maps, presentations, and an opportunity to engage directly with officials on how the proposed wards were drawn. National Context The ward delimitation process began earlier this year and has already gone through stages of data collection and technical assessments. The MDB is conducting consultations in municipalities across South Africa, ensuring that every community has the chance to contribute before draft ward maps are finalized. Public input is not only welcomed but encouraged, as community submissions can influence adjustments to ward boundaries. Once finalized, the new wards will be gazetted and become the official electoral map for the 2026 elections. Looking Ahead For residents of JB Marks, these consultations offer a chance to influence how local democracy will be structured for years to come. Active participation is expected to ensure the final ward configuration reflects both demographic realities and community identities. The outcomes of these sessions will feed into the broader MDB process, with the final ward maps expected to be published ahead of the 2026 polls. 🗺️ 🏛️ 📢🗳️ 🤝 #TheGoToGuy #potchefstroom #WardDelimitation2025 #JbMarksMunicipality #CommunityVoice #LocalElections2026 #PublicParticipation

  • This Week in Potch WhatsApp Chats: Towers Pressure, Tree Drama & Traffic Alerts

5 – 11 September 2025 This week's community updates focus on water pressure problems, electrical outages, infrastructure work, and multiple emergency situations across Potchefstroom. Communication between residents, councillors, and service units provided insight into ongoing issues and attempted solutions. Image: The Go-to Guy Creations Potchefstroom Towers: Water Pressure & Maintenance Concerns Residents of Potchefstroom Towers were informed of persistent low water pressure, particularly during peak hours. Investigations revealed the following: Water pressure fluctuates  between 1.8 and 2 bar, falling short of the recommended 2–2.4 bar. Aging pipe infrastructure  shows rust buildup, which limits water flow. Rooftop reservoirs are out of service , exacerbating the issue. A pressure booster pump  has been recommended to stabilize water across all six floors. Costs for upgrades fall under the responsibility of the building’s owners and trustees , not the municipality. Baywind and the trustees are expected to confirm timelines for further action. Water Supply Disruptions Significant water-related issues impacted multiple areas: A major leak near Laerskool President Pretorius  caused low pressure in P. Mokaba and Maree Street. The leak was traced to a rusted hydrant connection that required a pipe replacement. Spruit Street  also experienced a temporary water outage due to this incident. The water leak was resolved by early morning on 10 September. Electricity Outages & Tree Cutting Confusion Unplanned power outages frustrated residents in several areas: Jeugd Street and surroundings  experienced an extended blackout starting before 10:00 on 6 September. The outage was caused by tree maintenance  near power lines. Communication issues led to confusion and frustration, with reports of manual tree cutting using hand saws . Power was restored around 17:00, after over six hours of disruption. Additional outages were also reported in Albert Nel Street , Ross Street (Industria) , and Dyer Street . Traffic Incidents and Safety Alerts A road accident  occurred at the corner of Govan Mbeki and Du Plooy Streets. Emergency services including Mooirivier and CBS were dispatched. Another vehicle accident  occurred near Nelson Mandela and Parys Avenue. Roadway was temporarily obstructed before clearance at 19:55 on 5 September. A fatal accident  was reported in the early hours of 11 September at Albert Lethuli and Hoffman Street. Water Meter & Billing Complaints Numerous complaints were raised regarding: Inconsistent water meter readings. High monthly water usage not matching household size or actual usage. Faulty meters not being repaired despite repeated reports. Long-standing issues not addressed by municipal billing departments. Contact information for municipal billing and meter queries was shared to help resolve these concerns. Noise, Speeding & Law Enforcement Gaps Residents reported: Ongoing illegal street racing and noise disturbances  in the Lethuli area. Complaints of limited police or traffic visibility  in high-risk areas. Mooirivier Protection Services were alerted but residents remain unsure of follow-up actions. Infrastructure Update The 315mm water pipeline  from the purification plant to the Vyfhoek reservoir has been completed. Final site visits took place in coordination with the contractor, JB Marks Municipality, and provincial representatives. Community Assistance & Information Sharing Residents actively helped report electricity and water outages. Emergency contacts and department extensions were circulated to improve direct communication. Appreciation was expressed for teams cutting trees, replacing cables, and managing crises despite limited resources. If you have a service delivery issue or emergency, remember to report it directly to the relevant department numbers. Your feedback helps maintain accountability and response times in Potchefstroom. Final Thought Increased activity on local WhatsApp groups continues to highlight service-related frustrations, safety alerts, and real-time coordination among residents. From pipe corrosion at Potch Towers and tree-cutting disruptions to water outages and serious accidents, group members have used these platforms to voice concerns, share updates, and offer assistance when possible. The conversations also underscore the growing demand for accountability, maintenance transparency, and better communication between municipal services and communities. 🚰⚡📱🚨 #TheGoToGuy #potchefstroom #WaterWatch #PowerTalk #WhatsAppVoices #CommunityPulse

THASA – The Hair Academy of South Africa  , is a homegrown Potchefstroom institution (established in 2008) dedicated to training top-class hairdressers . Image : Provided by THASA - The Hair Academy of South-Africa - Potchefstroom Since opening its doors, THASA has been a driving force in launching professional stylists into the industry . Now, this acclaimed academy is inviting the community to see what they’re all about at an upcoming Open Day on 20 September 2025, an event that promises insight into their world of hairdressing excellence. A Legacy of Hairdressing Excellence in Potchefstroom What sets THASA apart is its commitment to quality education and a personal approach to training. Over the past 17 years, the academy has built a strong reputation for producing top-tier stylists who now work in salons across the country and even abroad . Situated on the grounds of Potchefstroom Technical High School, THASA provides a safe, homely learning environment in the heart of the city . Students enjoy a genuine campus vibe with access to nearby shops and cafes, meaning they get the full student life experience without having to relocate to a big city for quality training . For those coming from outside Potchefstroom, the academy has partnerships with local accommodation providers, offering affordable, safe housing within walking distance of campus . From day one, studying at THASA means joining a close-knit “family” where instructors and peers support each other’s growth . It’s not just a school , it’s a creative hub where passion meets precision, and talent is transformed into a lifelong career . THASA’s program is internationally accredited, leading to qualifications like the prestigious City & Guilds International Hairdressing Diploma. This means a THASA graduate’s skills are recognised globally, opening doors to career opportunities far beyond Potchefstroom . Whether alumni choose to work in a trendy Johannesburg salon, start their own boutique studio, or style hair for fashion shows and film sets, THASA gives them the foundation to do so. At the end of the day, THASA offers Potchefstroom and North West residents a unique chance to build a thriving career in the dynamic hair and beauty industry without leaving town . With small classes, caring teachers, and comprehensive training, the academy equips students with the confidence and skills to succeed, all while staying rooted in the community. Image : Facebook THASA - The Hair Academy of South-Africa - Potchefstroom Personalised Training and Hands-On Experience One of the first things you’ll notice about THASA is its personal touch. The academy deliberately keeps class sizes intimate, only about 15 students per class ensuring each learner gets individual attention and tailored instruction . You’re never just a face in the crowd. In this supportive, hands-on environment, instructors have time to mentor each student closely, correcting techniques and answering questions every step of the way . Learning at THASA feels less like sitting in a lecture and more like practicing alongside professionals in a real salon. In fact, the teaching style is “less formal classroom, more ‘let’s get you job-ready,’” as one description puts it . Students spend their days mastering everything from cutting and coloring to up-styles and client care through guided, real-world practice rather than just theory . This nurturing atmosphere quickly turns classmates and staff into a family, where everyone supports each other’s growth . By the time you graduate, you’re not only competent with a pair of scissors, you’re confident and professional in your craft. THASA’s state-of-the-art training salon provides real-world experience. The on-site salon is stocked with industry-standard equipment so students can practice their craft in conditions that feel like the real world . Crucially, trainees aren’t just working on mannequin heads; they get their hands on real tools, real hair, and real clients  from early on . Under instructor supervision, students practice styling on actual clients from the community, ensuring they gain practical experience beyond the textbooks. This means Potchefstroom residents benefit too - men, women, and even pensioners are welcome to visit the academy’s salon for haircuts, colors, or treatments. It’s a symbiotic setup: students hone their skills on both men’s and women’s hairstyling (from classic gents’ cuts to ladies’ bridal updos), while the public enjoys professional services often at reduced training rates. THASA’s curriculum even emphasises salon business skills like promoting products and services to clients , so visitors will find a range of quality haircare products available for purchase on-site. In short, THASA is more than a school, it’s a working salon that serves the community, reflecting the academy’s ethos of practical training and community engagement. Comprehensive Courses for Every Hair Passion THASA offers a comprehensive range of courses  that cover all aspects of hairdressing. Whether you’re interested in precision barbering or creative color techniques, the academy has you covered. Enrollments are open for the 2026 intake, and THASA welcomes both male and female students eager to pursue a National or International Qualification in hairdressing . The curriculum spans everything from cutting and colouring to styling and salon management, equipping students with the practical skills and industry knowledge needed for success . Students learn basic and advanced techniques: one day you might be learning classic fades and beard grooming, and the next you’re practicing intricate bridal hairstyles or the latest highlights and balayage trends. The training even includes modern topics like African hair styling techniques and salon business management, ensuring graduates are well-rounded professionals . All instruction is guided by qualified educators who are passionate about the craft and each student’s growth . This comprehensive approach means graduates leave THASA not only with a certificate, but with the confidence and versatility to thrive in any salon environment, or even start their own. Image : Facebook THASA - The Hair Academy of South-Africa - Potchefstroom Open to the Public: Salon Services and Product Range Although THASA is an academy, it functions in many ways like a professional salon and it’s open to the public. The academy’s on-site salon welcomes everyone from students to local residents who want quality hair services. This includes men’s haircuts and grooming, women’s cuts, colors and styling, and even special rates or days for pensioners in the community. By serving real clients, THASA provides invaluable hands-on experience for its students while also giving Potchefstroom locals access to affordable, supervised hairdressing services. It’s not often you can get a haircut or new hairstyle from a rising talent under the watch of an expert instructor! Importantly, THASA also carries a range of professional haircare products for sale at their facility. Clients can purchase the shampoos, conditioners, styling products and tools that students use, essentially the same quality products that salons use, allowing them to maintain their look at home. Teaching students to promote and retail products is actually part of the training , so you can expect friendly recommendations tailored to your hair’s needs. This blend of education and community service means THASA truly lives up to being “for Potchefstroom, from Potchefstroom” , bridging professional training with local involvement . • Keep Your Home, Pool & Pond Leak-Free This Spring with SUPA Rubber Potchefstroom – And Win R5,000!

Spring is around the corner in Potchefstroom, bringing much-needed rain showers after the dry winter. With those refreshing rains, however, comes the risk of leaks in our homes, roofs, and outdoor structures. Image : Facebook SUPA Rubber Potchefstroom’s climate is known for intense sun followed by sudden thunderstorms, which can take a toll on buildings, causing roofs to leak and even pools or ponds to crack if they aren’t properly protected . Water intrusion isn’t just an annoyance; it can lead to costly damage like wood rot, mold growth, and ruined interiors. The good news is that modern waterproofing solutions exist to keep water out, and one local business has the answer. SUPA Rubber Potchefstroom offers an innovative latex-based waterproofing product that can seal your roof, pool, and pond against leaks and as a bonus, they’re running a spring promotion where anyone who likes and shares their Facebook page stands a chance to win R5,000 in cash . Yes, the promotion is currently ongoing (with monthly winners drawn), so homeowners have an extra incentive to secure their properties and  possibly pocket some cash for the effort. Image : Facebook SUPA Rubber Why Waterproofing Matters for Spring Rains After months of dry weather, spring rainfall can quickly expose any weakness in your home’s defenses. Heavy downpours or hail can find the tiniest crack in your roof or walls and turn it into a leak. In fact, Potchefstroom receives roughly 660 mm of rain per year, mostly in the summer months , so a few intense storms can reveal leaks you never knew existed. A dripping ceiling or damp wall after a storm isn’t just inconvenient, it can damage insulation, electrical wiring, paint, and furniture. Leaky gutters or downpipes are equally dangerous, as overflowing water can cascade down walls or pool around foundations, causing structural issues over time. That’s why proper waterproofing is essential for homeowners here. By sealing up your roof, walls, and gutters now, you create a shield against the coming rains and save yourself the headache and expense of water damage later. Traditional waterproofing methods (like bitumen paints or tar) often dry hard and can crack as temperatures change. A cutting-edge alternative is latex-based waterproofing sealant, essentially a liquid rubber coating that dries into a tough yet flexible membrane . Unlike old-school coatings that become brittle, a latex-based sealant like SUPA Rubber remains elastic once cured, moving with your building as it expands on hot days and contracts on cool nights . It’s like wrapping your home in a durable, weatherproof glove. This seamless rubber layer has no joints or gaps for water to sneak through, and it can last over 10 years before needing even a touch-up . By applying such a coating to vulnerable areas (roofs, flashing, balcony floors, etc.), you ensure that when spring storms strike, rainwater stays outside where it belongs and your home’s interior stays dry. SUPA Rubber Potchefstroom – Your Ultimate Waterproofing Solution SUPA Rubber is a proudly South African brand (founded in the Vaal region) that has rapidly grown into a nationwide waterproofing solution provider . The company is based in Vanderbijlpark and today has stores across the country, including branches in Pretoria, Potchefstroom, Roodepoort, Benoni, and more . The Potchefstroom branch offers local expertise for residents and even provides free nationwide delivery for orders, making it easy to get your hands on this innovative product . SUPA Rubber’s claim to fame is its advanced latex-based formula, which is both long-lasting and eco-conscious . In simple terms, they’ve developed a “liquid rubber” paint that creates a flexible, waterproof barrier on a wide range of surfaces from roofs and garages to ponds and pipelines . This single product can coat, seal, and protect almost anything, eliminating the need to buy different sealants for different jobs.  SUPA Rubber’s versatile waterproofing coating can be applied on a variety of materials, PVC pipes, concrete slabs, zinc metal roofs, wood, stone, and more , making it suitable for both industrial and domestic use. The product is proudly made in South Africa, comes in 19 vibrant colours to match your style, and carries a 10-year guarantee for peace of mind. When you choose SUPA Rubber, you’re not just buying a tin of paint – you’re investing in a proven solution built for South African conditions . Image : Facebook SUPA Rubber Here are some of the standout benefits and services SUPA Rubber offers homeowners: Long-Lasting Protection:   SUPA Rubber forms a tough membrane that doesn’t degrade quickly. A proper application can last over a decade before needing major upkeep . In fact, SUPA Rubber is so confident in its durability that it’s backed by a 10-year guarantee , meaning you get a decade of assured leak-free performance or your money back. This longevity saves you money in the long run by preventing frequent repairs or re-coating jobs. Flexible & Crack-Resistant: Once cured, the rubberised coating stays elastic and won’t crack as your building expands or settles over time . Whether it’s a scorching 30°C afternoon or a chilly thunderstorm at night, the SUPA Rubber layer flexes with temperature changes instead of splitting. This flexibility ensures that hairline cracks stay sealed and new ones don’t form, keeping water out through all seasons. Multi-Surface Versatility:   One of the biggest advantages is that the same product can be used on virtually any surface , metal, concrete, wood, PVC, stone, you name it. Your roof, walls, gutters, pools, ponds, and even concrete foundations can all be protected with the same  Supa Rubber coating . This all-in-one versatility means you don’t need a shelf full of different sealants. Plus, SUPA Rubber is equally effective for domestic and industrial use, whether you’re sealing a home roof or a factory floor. Eco-Friendly & Safe:   SUPA Rubber’s formula is water-based, solvent-free and non-toxic, with no harsh fumes . It’s safe for family members, pets, and even fish in a pond once cured. Unlike some chemical sealants, it contains no VOCs after drying, so you can waterproof without worrying about harmful off-gassing. This also means it’s environmentally friendly , a crucial consideration as we strive for greener homes. (Fun fact: The coating is fish-safe, so you can use it in a koi pond without harming aquatic life .) Aesthetic Options:   Unlike tar that comes only in black, SUPA Rubber comes in 19 standard colours to suit your design preferences . You can choose a light grey or white for your roof to reflect heat (and keep your home cooler), a terracotta red to match tiles, or a teal blue for inside your pool. There are options to blend in with almost any decor or environment. This means you get a waterproof barrier and  a nice finish, no more unsightly patchwork repairs. The coating goes on smoothly and dries clear or in your chosen color with a neat look, rather than the messy look of traditional bitumen. Customer-Focused Service:   As mentioned, free nationwide delivery is offered, so even if you can’t visit the Potchefstroom store in person, you can order and get it delivered to your door . The team at SUPA Rubber Potchefstroom is customer-focused and ready to advise you on the best application methods (whether you’re a DIY enthusiast or hiring a contractor). This kind of support ensures you apply the product correctly for optimal results. They provide guidance through FAQs and direct assistance, so you’re never on your own in the process. In short, you get quality products and  service, which is part of why Supa Rubber has built a reputation as South Africa’s #1 waterproofing solution . Image : Facebook SUPA Rubber Protecting Your Home’s Roof (and More) from Leaks Your roof is the first line of defense against rainstorms, so keeping it watertight is critical. Over time, sun exposure, wind, and temperature swings can cause small cracks or gaps in roofing materials (around screws, seams, etc.), leading to leaks. Applying a latex-based rubber coating like SUPA Rubber effectively seals the roof by filling in hairline cracks and covering seams, forming a continuous waterproof layer with no gaps for water to penetrate . Once cured, this rubberized membrane stands up to Potchefstroom’s blazing sun, heavy downpours, and even hail without breaking down . Unlike ordinary roof paint that might become brittle after prolonged UV exposure, the SUPA Rubber layer remains tough yet flexible even in extreme weather . It’s highly UV-resistant and specifically formulated for South Africa’s climate, so the Highveld sun won’t degrade it easily . In effect, adding this coating is like adding a 10+ year shield to your roof, it prevents leaks season after season with minimal upkeep . Homeowners have reported that even after years of punishing sun and storms, their SUPA Rubber-coated roofs stay completely waterproof and intact . In addition to roofing, don’t forget other parts of your home that benefit from waterproofing. Balconies, parapet walls, chimney bases, and gutters are common culprits for leaks. A quick coat of Supa Rubber on a leaky gutter joint or around a skylight can plug those sneaky drips in no time, the rubber sticks to metal, concrete, or brick and forms a flexible patch that won’t crack when the material expands in heat . By sealing up gutters and downpipes, you ensure rainwater is properly channeled away through the spouts, rather than overflowing and causing damp patches on walls or pooling around your foundation. Many Potchefstroom homes have galvanised zinc roofs or gutters, which are prone to rust if water sits on them , coating these with Supa Rubber creates a waterproof, rust-inhibiting layer that extends their lifespan . And because the product dries to the touch in a few hours and fully cures in a day or two, you can tackle these home maintenance jobs over a weekend with minimal disruption. The result is a home that’s prepared to face spring storms head-on: no more scrambling with buckets when it rains, and no more unsightly water stains on your ceiling. Sealing Your Swimming Pool and Garden Pond Just as roofs need to keep water out , pools and ponds need to keep water in . If you have a swimming pool or a decorative pond, even a tiny leak can lead to surprising water loss (and higher water bills) over time. SUPA Rubber’s latex-based waterproofing is a fantastic solution here because it creates a 100% waterproof, seamless liner inside the pool or pond structure . It’s like giving your pool a new flexible inner skin: the liquid rubber seeps into every crack and pore of the concrete or fiberglass and then cures into a solid, rubberized shell adhering to the surface. Because there are no joints or seams, there’s nowhere for water to escape, meaning you can say goodbye to constantly topping up the pool or refilling the pond. The rubber layer also handles the constant water pressure and slight ground movements over time without splitting or coming loose . Unlike brittle plaster or cement-based pool coatings that can crack as the ground shifts or as temperatures change, the SUPA Rubber coating will flex and stay intact. It’s formulated to resist pool chemicals as well; even chlorine and pool salts won’t cause it to peel or degrade . This is crucial, as many generic waterproofing paints fail after prolonged exposure to chlorinated water , but SUPA Rubber is designed for that challenge. Another big plus for ponds and pools is safety: once cured, the latex is non-toxic and VOC-free, which means it’s fish-friendly for koi ponds and safe for swimmers. The coating won’t leach harmful chemicals into the water , so you get a waterproof pond without endangering your fish or plants, a big win for garden enthusiasts who want to protect their aquatic life. The finish is also smooth and easy to clean: if your old pool had rough spots where algae loved to cling, a new rubber coating will leave it smooth and algae will have fewer places to take hold . This makes routine maintenance easier, as algae and dirt can be brushed away without snagging on cracks or textured surfaces. And just like with roofs, you have color options: perhaps you’ll choose a bright blue for your pool interior to give it that inviting sparkle, or a natural black/green for your pond to blend with the surroundings . With Supa Rubber, your pool or pond not only becomes watertight, but can also look refreshed and aesthetically pleasing. By waterproofing your pool and pond now in spring, you’ll prevent water loss and costly issues through the summer, ensuring you can enjoy a full, functional pool when the hot weather arrives, without the worry of mysterious leaks draining your fun (or your wallet).
