The Main Event Taking place on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at RAG Farm / JOOL, Potchefstroom, the fundraiser opened its gates early, with attendees eagerly lining up to take part in the activities. The fierce competition provided a lively start to the day. • Memorabilia Auction (11:00 - 12:00) – Exclusive items, including a signed UFC fighting glove, old school jerseys, and a special portrait of Dricus Du Plessis, were auctioned off to enthusiastic bidders. • Dricus Du Plessis Exclusive Appearance (12:00 - 13:00) – The moment everyone was waiting for. Elke jaar op 21 Februarie vier ons Nasionale Moedertaaldag (ook bekend as Internasionale Moedertaaldag). Dié dag is in 1999 deur UNESCO ingestel om ons te herinner aan hoe belangrik ons eerste taal is, en hoekom ons dit móét koester. In Suid-Afrika, waar ons elf amptelike tale het (plus ’n klomp ander tale en dialekte), is moedertale ’n groot deel van ons identiteit. Kom ons kyk hoekom hierdie dag so belangrik is en hoe ons saam kan werk om ons tale te beskerm. 🗣️ The Go-To Guy Die Belangrikheid van Moedertale Identiteit en Kultuur Jou moedertaal is soos ’n spieël wat jou kulturele erfenis weerspieël. Dis hoe ons voorouers met mekaar gepraat het, en hoe ons tradisies en waardes voortleef. Wanneer ons ons moedertaal gebruik, hou ons ’n lewende draad met ons geskiedenis. Dit gee ons ook ’n gevoel van trots en tuishoort in ’n diverse land soos Suid-Afrika. Onderwys en Begrip Navorsing toon dat kinders wat in hul moedertaal leer, dikwels beter op skool vaar. ’n Sterk grondslag in jou eie taal maak dit makliker om later ander tale en vakke te bemeester. As jy jou eie taal verstaan, help dit met selfvertroue en leer. Dis soos ’n stewige gebou wat op ’n goeie fondament staan. 📚 Bewaring van Taalkundige Diversiteit Elke taal bied ’n unieke manier om die wêreld te sien. As ons ’n taal verloor, verloor ons stukke van ons geskiedenis, folklore en selfs kennis oor natuur en kultuur. As ons ons moedertale koester, bewaar ons ’n kosbare deel van ons menswees en sorg dat hierdie kennis nie net in boeke begrawe word nie. Ekonomiese Vooruitgang en Toegang tot Inligting Om jou moedertaal vlot te praat en te skryf, kan jou in die toekoms help om beter werk- en leergeleenthede te kry. In ’n wêreld wat ál meer digitaal raak, is daar groeiende vraag na inhoud in verskillende tale. ’n Soliede moedertaalbasis maak dit ook makliker om sekondêre of internasionale tale te leer, wat jou kan help om met mense regoor die wêreld te kommunikeer. Moedertale in Suid-Afrika Ons land is ’n lekker mengelmoes van tale — van isiZulu, Sepedi en Xitsonga tot Afrikaans en Engels. Dié veeltaligheid is ’n voordeel, maar ons moet aktief daaraan werk om dié tale te beskerm en te laat groei. In baie skole en universiteite word daar nou meer oorweeg om moedertaalonderrig te gebruik, omdat dit studente help om moeilike vakke beter te verstaan. • Universiteite soos Stellenbosch en Noordwes-Universiteit werk daaraan om meertaligheid op kampusse te bevorder. • Gemeenskapsorganisasies in onderbediende gebiede moedig mense aan om in hul moedertaal te lees en te skryf. Hierdie pogings maak mense meer bewus van hoe belangrik dit is om in hul eie taal te leer en te praat. Hoe Ons Moedertale Kan Bevorder Regeringsbetrokkenheid Die regering kan deur beleidsrigtings en befondsing help om onderrigmateriaal in verskillende moedertale te ontwikkel. Dit sluit handboeke en opleiding vir onderwysers in, sodat meer mense baat vind by moedertaalonderrig. Gemeenskapsinisiatiewe Ons almal kan ’n verskil maak! Begin ’n leeskring in jou buurt, vertel stories in jou eie taal, of reël ’n kultuurdag. Ouders kan ’n groot invloed hê deur met hul kinders in hul moedertaal te praat en hulle te oortuig om ook in daardie taal te skryf. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 In ’n era van slimfone en rekenaars kan ons nie agterbly nie. Deel jou kennis en skryf meer op sosiale media in jou moedertaal. So laat ons jong mense besef dat hul eie taal ook "cool" en relevant is. 💻📱 Nasionale Moedertaaldag is ’n goeie geleentheid om te onthou hoekom ons eerste taal so spesiaal is. Dis die taal waarin ons eerste woorde gesê het en waarmee ons nog elke dag droom. Om ons moedertale te beskerm, is om ons identiteit en toekoms te beskerm. Suid-Afrika se diversiteit is ons trots, en deur Nasionale Moedertaaldag te vier, vier ons ook onsself en ons geskiedenis. Laat ons dié dag gebruik om met trots in ons moedertaal te praat, en saam te werk om dit te bewaar vir ons kinders en kleinkinders.
