A Culinary Collaboration
In a rare and delightful culinary crossover, Chillmax Restaurant and Purple Carrot School of Culinary Art are joining forces to host a once-off Mother’s Day lunch on Sunday, 11 May 2025. It’s the kind of collab that says, “We love you, Ma, and we’re not letting you near the stove today.”
Located at 37 Retief Street in Potchefstroom, the venue is set to offer more than just a meal, think of it as a love letter to mothers in three delicious acts: starters, mains, and dessert. The event runs from 11:30 to 15:00, giving everyone just enough time to enjoy a relaxed afternoon filled with flavour and maybe a bit of family bickering over who gets the last chicken wing.

The Cost of Love (and Lunch)
Tickets are going for R320 per person, with kids aged 8–12 getting a 50% discount. Booking is essential – no chancers rocking up hoping to squeeze in between the roast potatoes and the peach salad. Call or WhatsApp 071-610-0247 to secure your spot.
The Menu: A Bit Fancy, A Lot Tasty
Starters – Breaking the Ice
Seaside Scrolls – Sundried tomato and feta risotto with grilled calamari steak strips. A little Mediterranean flair without the need for a passport.
Lamb Croquette – Braised lamb paired with apricot chutney and a micro herb salad. Because nothing says "I love you" like deep-fried lamb.
Sweet Heat Skewers – Honey-Sriracha chicken wings served with pineapple salsa and lime aioli. For moms who can handle a bit of a kick.

Mains – The Heart of It
Braised Glory – Beef short rib slow-cooked in a molasses glaze with garlic confit potatoes and green beans. Tender, sticky, and probably nap-inducing.
Kiev Revival – Crisp chicken Kiev stuffed with a garlic herb centre, served with baby carrots and parmesan duchess potatoes. It’s retro, it’s comforting, and it’s got cheese.
Sticky Situation – Chilli-honey pork belly with coconut rice and peach salad. Sweet, savoury, and probably destined to be remembered in family group chats.

Desserts – The Grand Finale
Dark Cheesecake – Burnt cheesecake with espresso syrup and dark chocolate bark. Like your favourite aunt: strong, bitter, but oddly comforting.
Caramel Comfort – Malva pudding swimming in Amarula anglaise with caramel popcorn crunch. No notes.
Tipsy Pear – Red wine–poached pear with vanilla crème and almond crumble. Fruit, technically. So it’s healthy?
