"My friend kept asking me how I was doing it," the founder explains. "I had basically created my own cleaning method to bring them back to life. My first customers were actually my close friends, and it slowly grew into what Kick-O-Mat is today."

The name itself is a play on the word "laundromat",positioning sneaker cleaning as a professional, essential service rather than a household chore.

What makes Kick-O-Mat different from a bucket of soapy water at home? It’s the attention to detail. Whether it’s delicate suede or the notorious yellowing soles of older shoes, the team assesses every material before starting.

Their specialty remains the "White-on-White" restoration. We’ve all seen those sneakers that look destined for the bin,caked in mud or stained by time. For Kick-O-Mat, those are the most satisfying jobs. "Seeing that transformation,from dirty and yellowed to clean and wearable again,is what really defines what we do," says the team.

Built by the Potch Community

Kick-O-Mat didn’t just grow in Potch; it was shaped by Potch. The business gained momentum through organic word-of-mouth, starting with a single social media post from a happy friend.

"The Potchefstroom community taught me a lot about customer service," the founder admits. "The challenges and failures we faced helped shape how we operate today. This community gave us the lessons we needed to grow."

One of the biggest hurdles for busy students or working professionals is finding the time to drop off laundry. Kick-O-Mat has solved this by partnering with local delivery legends, LocalLink.
