KYB Academy is opening its doors once again for a two-day Open Day, inviting learners, parents, and curious locals to find out what all the welding sparks and sharpened pencils are about. The event takes place on Friday, 17 October (09:30–17:00) and Saturday, 18 October (08:00–12:00) at KYB TECH, located on the corner of R53 (Parys Road) and Modderdam Crossing, Turfvlei, Potchefstroom.
A Weekend of Skills, Learning, and Opportunity
The Open Day gives visitors a first-hand look at KYB Academy’s accredited technical programmes and its Tertiary Education Preparation Programme (TEPP), both designed to help young people gain the skills, discipline, and confidence they’ll need to thrive in higher education and the workplace.
From live demonstrations that show how theory becomes practical skill, to sessions on application and enrolment, the event is meant to be as hands-on as it is informative. It’s the kind of open day where you actually learn something, instead of just collecting pamphlets.
What to Expect
Here’s what’s on the agenda for both days:
Showcase of KYB Academy’s accredited technical programmes
Live demonstrations highlighting practical skills in action
Insight into industry-aligned training and career pathways
Information on application and enrolment procedures
Engagement with facilitators and subject experts
Networking opportunities with peers and industry representatives
If you’ve ever wondered what “industry-aligned training” actually looks like, this might be your chance to find out without having to Google it.
TEPP: Preparing for Academic Success
The Tertiary Education Preparation Programme (TEPP) isn’t your average bridging course. It focuses on strengthening essential subjects like Mathematics, Science, Information Technology, and Communication, while also developing higher-order thinking and problem-solving skills.
Students learn from facilitators who understand tertiary expectations, the ones who know how to turn “I don’t get this” into “Oh, now I see.” It’s all about building confidence and ensuring learners walk into university feeling prepared, not panicked.
