The Leopards have officially booked their ticket to the Carling Currie Cup First Division semi-finals! In a high-stakes, nerve-wracking final league encounter, the boys from Potchefstroom showed champion-style defensive grit to hold on for a hard-fought 17-14 away victory over the Border Bulldogs at Sisa Dukashe Stadium on Saturday.

With a playoff spot hanging in the balance, the Leopards got off to a flying start. Flyhalf Jandre Burger calmed early nerves by slotting a penalty goal before setting up winger Luyolo Doyi for a beautifully converted try. Although Border responded with a try from Lonwabo Rawana, the Leopards reclaimed control right before the interval when powerhouse prop Nash Mhere crashed over. Despite playing with 14 men for a period following a yellow card to centre Brandon Keevy, the Leopards carried a solid 17-7 lead into halftime.
The second half proved to be an ultimate test of character. Border struck back early through a converted Sakhe Dingile try to close the gap to just three points. The Leopards' discipline was tested to the limit as lock Mncedisi Dlwengu was shown a 20-minute red card, and replacement hooker Liyema Mgwigwi received a late yellow. Down to the wire and under immense pressure, the Leopards put on a masterclass in brave, desperate defending to deny the Bulldogs and seal a famous 17-14 victory.
The Final League Log & Playoff Picture
With the league phase officially completed, the hard-fought victory propelled the Leopards into fourth spot on the standings:
The Standings: The Leopards finish the regular season in fourth place with 14 points, leapfrogging the defending champion Griffons (11 points), who failed to make the playoffs. The unbeaten run of the SWD Eagles was snapped, but they still finish top of the log with 22 points. Eastern Province finished second on 20 points, and the Valke secured third with 18 points. The winless Bulldogs bring up the rear on 1 point.
The Semi-Finals: A brand new champion will be crowned in under a fortnight! The fourth-placed Leopards will travel to George to face the top-seeded DotSure SWD Eagles in the first semi-final, while Eastern Province will host the Valke in the second playoff fixture.

Round 5: Across the Ground Results
The final round of league action delivered plenty of drama across the country:
Valke 34–19 Griffons: At Barnard Stadium in Kempton Park, the Valke officially ended the defending champions' season. The hosts ran in six tries, including a brace from Zeilinga Strydom, to comfortably dismantle the Griffons and secure third spot on the table.
Dotsure SWD Eagles 45–52 Eastern Province: Outeniqua Park hosted a 12-try thriller where EP edge the Eagles in injury time. A last-gasp converted try by Mpho Ntsane and the clinical boot of Maxwell Klaasen handed the Eagles their first defeat of the campaign.
Final Whistle
With their semi-final spot officially secured, the Leopards now turn their full attention to playoff rugby. Having lost by only a narrow margin to the Eagles earlier in the campaign, the Potchefstroom side knows they have the firepower and the defensive resolve to pull off a massive upset in George and march all the way to the final.
