The halls of Potchefstroom Secondary School are echoing with more than just the usual school bell this week. Following a stellar performance at their most recent choral showcase, the school choir is celebrating a wave of top-tier results that have secured their spot in the upcoming district finals.
Under the inspiring motto, "We sang. We united. We achieved," the learners delivered a series of performances that impressed judges across multiple categories, from intimate trios to the power of the full ensemble.

Top Honors for the Trio and Soloists
The highlight of the event was the Trio, consisting of Ziyanda Skhulile Mbuyazi, Owethu Jiyeza, and Karabo Mthombeni, who claimed a decisive 1st Place finish. Their harmony and coordination set a high bar for the competition.
Individual excellence was also on full display, with several students placing in the top two for their respective vocal ranges:
Performer | Category | Result |
Ziyanda Skhulile Mbuyazi | Solo Mezzo | 1st Place |
Omphile Moile | Solo Bass | 2nd Place |
Bafedile Masiu | Solo Soprano | 2nd Place |
Owethu Jiyeza | Solo Tenor | 2nd Place |
A Collective Success
It wasn't just the soloists who shone; the Whole Choir delivered a moving rendition of their African Song, earning a proud 2nd Place overall. This collective achievement highlights the dedication and unity of the entire vocal department.
"We are incredibly proud of our singers! Well done to all who participated and poured their hearts into these performances." — Potchefstroom Secondary School Administration
The Road to Klerksdorp
The journey is far from over. These impressive results mean that Potchefstroom Secondary School is officially going through to the District Competition.
Supporters, parents, and fellow students are encouraged to mark their calendars and cheer on our talented vocalists as they take the stage once more:
