The Hair Academy of South Africa (THASA) in Potchefstroom is riding a wave of community support as it continues its breast cancer awareness campaign and gears up for an exciting event in early November.

In this monthly update, learn how THASA is contributing to a great cause, what to expect at the upcoming Open Day, and how the academy’s comprehensive training program is shaping future hairstylists.
Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign Continues into November
THASA Potchefstroom is currently running a breast cancer awareness campaign in support of the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA). As part of this initiative, the academy offers free cut-and-blow-dry services to anyone willing to donate their hair for a good cause.
The donated ponytails are collected and sent off to be made into natural-hair wigs for cancer survivors, a thoughtful way to help patients regain confidence during treatment. The Potchefstroom community has responded generously, with many locals stepping forward to “donate their locks” in exchange for a fresh new look.
Encouraged by the positive response, THASA is keeping the momentum going into November: the campaign will continue beyond October, allowing more people to participate and contribute to CANSA’s wig banks. The academy is grateful for the support so far and welcomes continued involvement from anyone able to make a hair donation for this meaningful cause.
