It’s been another jam-packed week here at The Go-To Guy, filled with inspiring school stories, sports connections, community growth, and even a sneak peek at upcoming events you’ll want to mark on your calendar. Grab your coffee (or maybe something stronger if it’s been that kind of week), and let’s rewind the clock to see what made Week 32 so special.

SkoolKompas:
4 August – Kultuur by Ferdies
We started the week on a creative high note with our SkoolKompas feature at Ferdies. If you’ve ever wondered what makes a school’s culture truly come alive, Ferdies is a shining example.
We sat down with three of their culture champions:
Carin Roux, Head of Culture
Kwame Matlawe, Head of Pulse and Culture Executive
Miné Bronkhorst, active in English debate, ATKV Afrikaans drama, the English play, and more.
The conversation was nothing short of inspiring. From debating to drama, from Afrikaans theatre to English productions, Ferdies is nurturing a generation of students who aren’t just performing, they’re living culture. Their approach blends tradition with fresh, modern energy, making sure every learner has the space to explore their passions.
It’s safe to say that if the stage is where you shine, Ferdies is where your spotlight will always find you.
SportStroom:
6 August – REPS Sport
Next up, our SportStroom spotlight shone on REPS Sport, a brand that’s all about tailoring top-quality sports equipment to meet schools’ unique needs. From balls and soft equipment to branded sportswear, they’re redefining how schools think about sports resources.
But REPS Sport isn’t just selling products. They’re building bridges, connecting sponsors with schools in innovative ways that boost involvement and visibility. It’s part of their “Partners in Play” initiative, which is exactly what it sounds like: a partnership that’s all about uplifting sport at school level.
Durable. Reliable. Affordable. REPS Sport is proving that quality sports equipment doesn’t have to break the bank, and schools that hop on board are seeing the difference.

StroomStories:
7 August – Veri-Fest
If you love live music, food, and a vibe that just won’t quit, you’re going to love what’s coming. On this episode of StroomStories, we sat down with two key members of the Veri-Fest team to get the inside scoop on their big event happening on 24 September 2025.
Picture this: a massive braai, incredible live performances, and a festive atmosphere that’ll have you dancing long after the last chord has been struck. Veri-Fest promises to be more than just another event, it’s shaping up to be the heritage celebration of the year.
The team’s excitement was contagious, and we left the studio already craving smoky braai flavours and the sound of guitars under the Potch night sky. Mark the date. You’ve been warned.
Ikageng:
8 August – Sarafina Secondary School
Friday brought us a story of perseverance and hope from Sarafina Secondary School in Ikageng. Their journey began in borrowed classrooms at Ditaelong Primary, but now they’ve taken a massive step forward, teaching their own Grades 8–10 on-site, even as construction of their permanent facilities continues.
It’s more than just bricks and mortar; it’s about building futures. Each wall that goes up is another step toward giving learners a space they can call their own. And when you see the determination in both staff and students, you can’t help but feel optimistic about the road ahead.
Our Eyes in the Field: 5 August – Build It
Midweek, we took a trip into the world of hardware and home improvement with a Build It feature. This time, we explored their incredible variety of tiles in a new video. Whether you’re going for sleek modern designs or something rustic with character, Build It has a range that can bring any home vision to life.
It wasn’t just about tiles, though, it’s about helping the community make their houses feel like home. And judging by what we saw, they’re nailing it one tile at a time.
8 August – PnP Trolley Dash
We wrapped up the week with something a little more fast-paced and a lot more fun, the PnP Trolley Dash! If you’ve never seen one of these in action, imagine a supermarket sweep where the only rule is: grab as much as you can before the clock runs out.
The excitement was through the roof, the aisles were a blur, and the smiles at the end were priceless. It’s events like this that remind us that sometimes, community connection can be found in the most unexpected (and entertaining) places.

A Big Milestone for The Go-To Guy!
We reached the incredible milestone of 80,000 Facebook followers, and of course, we had to celebrate in style! The team gathered for a quick office lunch braai, because is there really a better way to kick off the week than with great food and even better company? We’re over the moon to see how the page is growing every single day, and it’s all thanks to you, every like, share, and comment means the world to us.
Looking Back at Week 32
From cultural showcases at Ferdies to the sports partnerships shaping the next generation, from the promise of an unforgettable festival to stories of schools literally building their dreams, Week 32 was a reminder of what makes Potchefstroom so special.
It’s the people. It’s the passion. It’s the way we come together to share, support, and celebrate.
And that’s exactly what we’ll keep doing - week after week.
