Welcome back to the latest edition of The Go-To Guy Weekly Diary! We have just wrapped up a massive double-week (Weeks 13 and 14 and 15) that spanned the end of March and the beginning of April 2026.

This period has been characterized by two major themes: the celebratory spirit of Easter and the incredible competitive energy of local sports.
From high-end jewelry and Portuguese feasts in Potchefstroom to the thunderous roar of the crowd at the Ikageng Stadium, our "Eyes in the Field" have been working overtime.
While our StroomStories studio remains closed, we’ve found that the real stories are being told on the streets, in the shops, and on the sidelines of our local football pitches.
Here is your 10-minute deep dive into the highlights of the past fortnight.
Our Eyes in the Field: Potchefstroom
The local business scene in Potch has been buzzing, with a heavy focus on quality craftsmanship and preparation for the Easter holidays.

We started our journey in Baillie Park at Eternity Enterprise Jewellers. If you are looking for timeless elegance, this local gem at 16 Parys Avenue is a standout. They specialize in bespoke wedding rings, bringing unique visions to life with expert craftsmanship. Beyond the custom work, they handle in-house repairs with incredible precision.
Call to Action: They are currently part of the Potchefstroom Herald Retail Awards. If you value local excellence, head over to their social media and cast your vote!

In the heart of Potchindustria, we caught up with the team at Board Boy. Whether you’re a professional contractor or a DIY enthusiast, their precision cutting and high-quality boards are the industry standard in our town. Supporting local has never looked this professional.
March 30 – April 2: Easter Fun and Winners at Flotek NW
Flotek North West turned up the heat with their "Speckled Egg" guessing competition. The prize was a sought-after Torcraft gift basket filled with high-end tools. By April 2nd, the wait was over! A huge congratulations to Pieter Conradie, who was announced as the lucky winner. A big shoutout to Tork Craft for sponsoring such a fantastic prize pack.
March 31 & April 7: Industrial Strength at Vescotech
Maintenance never sleeps, and Vescotech proved why they are the ultimate source for electrical and mechanical equipment. With branches in both the Industrial area and Lombard Street, they’ve been keeping Potch’s projects running smoothly with expert inventory and advice.
March 31: A Century of Life – Happy 100th, Tannie Peggy!
One of the most touching moments of the year so far happened at the Potch Dienssentrum. We had the immense privilege of chatting with Tannie Peggy Haagner, who celebrated her 100th birthday on April 1st. Born and raised in Potch, Tannie Peggy is a true legend. Her wisdom and vitality are proof that there’s something special in our local water! Happy birthday, Tannie Peggy, here’s to a century of grace.
April 1: Easter Prep at Canal Crossing
If you visited Pick n Pay Canal Crossing on April 1st, you likely smelled it before you saw it,the heavenly scent of freshly baked Hot Cross Buns! From Easter eggs to the perfect cuts of meat for the long weekend braai, the spirit of the holiday was in full swing.
April 1: Family Feasts at Pimenta
Pimenta Portuguese Restaurant has long been a favorite for authentic, handcrafted cuisine. The big news this week? They are now officially kid-friendly with a brand-new play area. Now you can enjoy your peri-peri chicken while the little ones stay entertained.
April 9: All-in-One Fun at Snowflake
To wrap up our Potch coverage, we visited the Snowflake building. It’s officially the ultimate "all-rounder" destination. Whether you’re hitting the Padel courts, testing your swing on the golf simulator, or grabbing a slice at Pizzamoré, Snowflake has mastered the art of the social hangout.

Our Eyes in the Field: Ikageng
While Potch was busy with shopping and dining, Ikageng was the center of culture, dance, and a massive Easter football tournament.
March 27: JB Marks Market Day
The energy at the Tourism Information Center was a perfect 10/10. Local SMMEs showed out in full force, showcasing everything from food to performing arts. And yes, the Reptile Experience was there for the brave souls who wanted to get up close with some snakes!
March 28: Environmental Arts Festival
The Kagiso Lerefolo Foundation hosted the 1st Annual Environmental Arts Festival at Chris Hani Community Hall. Schools like Seiphemelo Secondary, B.A Seobi, and Boitshoko High used drama, poetry, and storytelling to remind us of the importance of the three R's: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
March 30: Street Dance Culture
The "After School Event" took over the basketball courts, reminding us why the Ikageng street dance scene is unmatched. The footwork and rhythm on display were a masterclass in local culture.
April 3 – 6: The Cashibe World Cup Easter Tournament
The Ikageng Stadium was the place to be this Easter weekend. The Cashibe World Cup brought the community together for a football spectacle.
The Talent: We saw incredible skill in the Under-15 and Under-17 Quarter-finals.
The Legend: We sat down with Lovious “Magents” Mohlokoane for a tactical halftime breakdown during the clash between Rheinmetall Denel Munition FC and Sparks FC.
The Vibes: By the Semi-finals on April 5th, the stands were packed. Whether it was Tiki Taka showing off their ball control or Marks of Excellence waiting for the counter-attack, the "Diski" was top-tier.
Final Thoughts
These past two weeks have shown the true heart of our community. From the 100-year legacy of Tannie Peggy to the bright futures of the young footballers in Ikageng, Potchefstroom and its surrounding areas are alive with passion and purpose.
