Suidsentrum Wine Affairs is hosting a wine tasting evening featuring the historic Vergelegen estate on Friday, 26 June 2026. The event will take place at Chillmax Restaurant, located at 37 Retief Street, offering residents an opportunity to sample a selection of landmark South African wines under expert guidance.
Christo Deyzel, sommelier and client manager at Vergelegen, will lead the presentation. Attendees will guide their palates through five specific selections from the estate, starting with the Vergelegen Florence Rosé, followed by their Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, and concluding with the full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon and the Mill Race Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot blend.

What the Evening Entails
The selection covers a broad spectrum of the estate’s portfolio, pairing the structured tasting with a harvest table. This format allows guests to experience how the different varietals complement food in an informal, relaxed environment.
Established in 1700, Vergelegen is renowned for its heritage and winemaking traditions. Having a dedicated representative from the estate present allows for firsthand insight into the unique maritime climate and soil conditions of the Somerset West region that shape these specific vintages.
Booking and Event Information
Entry is priced at R150 per person, which covers both the complete five-wine tasting flight and access to the harvest table. Due to space constraints at the venue, prior booking is essential to secure a seat for the evening.
