April 2025 saw a wave of generosity from the Potchefstroom community, all in aid of the animals at PAWS (Potch Animal Welfare Society). From food and blankets to technical support and a surprise kitty tent, every bit of help counted. And while it might’ve felt like a small gesture to some, the folks at PAWS want everyone to know: it meant everything. Cosy Cats and Culinary Comforts Francois Fouché made a feline-friendly delivery that caused quite a stir, not among the humans, but among the cats. He dropped off a pet tent that had one curious kitty claiming it before it was even zipped up. Alongside the tent came a generous stash of cat food, ensuring full tummies for days to come. PAWS extended their heartfelt thanks, noting that the kittens will be both safe and snug thanks to Francois’ thoughtful donation. Potch Gas Fires Up Daily Pet Meals Without gas, there’s no warm food, and cold pellets aren’t much of a gourmet treat. With a quick registration on the official Silent Book Club website, followed by the creation of local Facebook and Instagram pages, the Potchefstroom branch was born. After the second meetup, Zandri realized she needed help managing the growing interest. That’s when Bianca stepped up, eager to get involved and a dynamic partnership began. A Club Where You Don’t Have to Talk Unlike traditional book clubs, there’s no assigned reading, no pressure to socialize, and no expectation to speak. Members bring whatever they’re reading, be it a thriller, a Bible, or even a personal journal and simply sit together in silence for an hour. Before and after the reading time, light conversation is optional. The result? A welcoming, judgment-free environment where people can connect, or not, on their own terms. Both Zandri and Bianca describe themselves as introverts with social anxiety, and they’ve made it their mission to create a safe space for others like them. Some attendees don’t speak a word during their first meetups. Others slowly ease into small talk or discover they’re reading the same book as someone across the table. It’s all about comfort, quiet, and community. Twice a Month, Two Cozy Spots The Silent Book Club meets twice a month, alternating between two beloved local venues: Cuppa Caffé and Blank Canvas. Saturdays at noon are dedicated to reading, resting, and recharging. There’s no entry fee, just the cost of a coffee or muffin, often with special “book club” combo deals offered by the cafes. Kok , is die oop terrein regoor die Elgro Hotel , waar die Motorskou gewoonlik plaasvind, spesiaal oopgestel sodat inwoners daar kan parkeer . Die terrein is baie naby aan die Stadsaal. 📍 Google Maps skakel ’n Sekuriteitswag  sal by die hek gestasioneer wees vir veiligheid. Inwoners wat ’n klein bydrae  as waardering wil maak, is welkom om dit te doen. Raadslid Madra de Bruin (Wyk 15)  sal ’n koevert hê om donasies in te samel.
