- SAHRC Report Reveals Widespread Service Delivery Failures Across North West Municipalities
On Tuesday, 18 November 2025, the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) released an extensive Investigative Report detailing systemic service delivery failures across several municipalities in the North West Province. The report follows a large-scale investigation conducted by the SAHRC’s North West Provincial Office after numerous complaints were lodged regarding chronic breakdowns in basic services. According to the Commission, the state of municipal governance in the province has resulted in repeated violations of residents’ constitutional rights. Image: The Go-To Guy Creations Investigation Highlights Severe Municipal Non-Compliance The Report exposes pervasive shortcomings in the delivery of essential services such as water supply, sanitation management, sewage treatment, waste collection, electricity provision, and road and stormwater infrastructure maintenance. The SAHRC states that most of the assessed municipalities are not meeting their constitutional and legislative duties, resulting in significant and ongoing human rights infringements. Fourteen municipalities, together with the North West Provincial Government, are cited for systemic failures affecting residents across urban, peri-urban, and rural communities. Key Findings Against Municipalities City of Matlosana Chronic sewage spillages in Orkney and Alabama Long delays repairing sinkholes in Stilfontein Violations of dignity, safety, and life due to recurring environmental hazards JB Marks Local Municipality Persistent sewage overflows Irregular waste collection Poor road infrastructure and water shortages affecting Ikageng , Ventersdorp , and Goedgevonden Violations of dignity, health, and access to water Maquassi Hills Local Municipality Inconsistent water supply Ongoing sewage problems and littering in Wolmaransstad , Kgakala , and Teflop Rights to dignity, water, and sanitation compromised Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality Province-wide water shortages Poor water quality Sewage spillages in Bloemhof , Reivilo , Ganyesa , and Huhudi Violations of the right to sufficient water and a healthy environment Lekwa-Teemane Local Municipality Failure to provide roads and electricity to registered residential sites in Boitumelong Violations of access to basic services Kagisano Molopo Local Municipality Mismanagement of the Bray landfill site Health and dignity risks due to improper waste handling Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality Persistent water shortages and sewage failures across Ipelegeng , Mahikeng , Setlagole , Lichtenburg , Gareleng , Kraaipan , Mareetsane , and Zeerust Rights to water and sanitation violated Mahikeng Local Municipality Poor management of illegal dumping Stormwater flooding near Bophelong Hospital Ongoing risks to health and public safety Ditsobotla Local Municipality Incomplete road project in Itsoseng Zone 2 Restricted movement and dignity infringements for residents Kgetlengrivier Local Municipality Recurring water shortages and sewage spills Unsafe settlements in flood-prone zones Violations of dignity and environmental safety Madibeng Local Municipality Widespread water shortages in Jericho , Kagisanong View , Majakaneng , and Letlhabile Block E Failure to provide reliable access to sufficient water Moretele Local Municipality Poor road maintenance Water shortages affecting rural communities and schools Impact on education and basic living conditions Moses Kotane Local Municipality Severe and persistent water and sanitation failures affecting multiple villages, including Tlhatlhaganyane , Mmorogong , Maolagane , Ramokokastad , Mabelleng , Uitkyk , Voordenker , Tweelagte , Bapong , Rietfontein , and others Violations impacting access to water and healthcare services Rustenburg Local Municipality Chronic water shortages Repeated sewage spillages in communities such as Ramochana , Tlhabane , and Marikana Poor road conditions Sustained violations of constitutional rights View full Report in PDF below: Required Actions and Directives Issued by the SAHRC In response to the widespread breakdown of municipal services, the SAHRC has ordered all affected municipalities to: Deploy operational teams to resolve sewage spillages within 24 hours of any new report Submit 30-day progress reports detailing remedial actions Develop and implement costed, time-bound action plans within 90 days Restore environmental damage caused by sewage leaks, solid-waste backlogs, and illegal dumping The Commission emphasises that these directives are intended to enforce accountability and ensure that municipalities address the structural causes of service delivery decline. A Broader National Concern While this report focuses on the North West Province, the SAHRC notes that similar service-delivery deficiencies have been identified in Limpopo, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, and the Free State . The Commission stresses that municipal governance is central to the realisation of constitutional rights, particularly in vulnerable communities. The SAHRC has committed to closely monitoring the implementation of all directives to ensure that municipalities fulfil their responsibilities. Wrap-up The findings presented in the SAHRC’s Investigative Report underline deep-seated governance failures across multiple municipalities in the North West Province. For thousands of residents, inconsistent access to water, sanitation, waste management and other essential services continues to undermine their dignity and constitutional rights. The Commission’s directives now place a clear obligation on local and provincial authorities to act decisively, urgently, and transparently to reverse the ongoing decline in service delivery. #TheGoToGuy #potchefstroom #klerksdorp #SAHRCReport #ServiceDeliveryCrisis #NorthWestMunicipalities #HumanRightsZA #AccountabilityMatters 📣📑⚖️💧🛠️
- Nationwide Recall Issued for Multiple Dry Pet Foods Due to Mycotoxin Contamination
The National Consumer Commission (NCC) issued an urgent alert on 21 November 2025, notifying pet owners across South Africa of the recall of several dry dog and cat food products manufactured by RCL Foods. The recall affects more than 55,352 bags of well-known pet food brands produced between 26–29 May , 4–5 June , and 17 June 2025 . Laboratory testing identified elevated levels of Deoxynivalenol (DON) , a naturally occurring mycotoxin in maize, in certain batches used during the production process. DON levels in affected products exceeded the acceptable threshold of 1,000 ppb (1 ppm) , posing potential health risks to pets, including loss of appetite and digestive discomfort. Image: The Go-To Guy Creations Background to the Recall RCL Foods informed the NCC after internal quality checks revealed increased DON levels in maize supplied for pet food production. Mycotoxins such as DON can occur in grains under specific environmental conditions and are harmful when ingested by pets in high concentrations. The NCC has urged all pet owners to immediately stop feeding the affected products to their animals and return the items to any retailer for a full refund, with or without proof of purchase . The Commission will monitor compliance under the Consumer Protection Act. List of Affected Products The recall spans multiple well-known brands and product sizes. Image: Office of the Executive Mayor City of Matlosana Local Municipality Roads Graded and Water Channels Cleaned in Tigane and Kanana On Tuesday, 25 November 2025, the Technical and Infrastructure Directorate undertook vital service delivery tasks in several communities. In Tigane Extension 7, municipal teams carried out the grading of gravel roads to improve accessibility and driving safety. In Kanana, the water channel was cleaned to ensure proper flow and reduce the risk of flooding or blockages. This forms part of ongoing routine maintenance to support stormwater management in the area. Pothole Repairs Conducted in Wilkoppies Also on Tuesday, repairs were performed in Wilkoppies as part of the municipality’s continuous response to road-surface deterioration. Patching of potholes was completed to enhance driving conditions and mitigate vehicle damage for residents, businesses, and visitors moving through the neighbourhood. Sewer Lines Unblocked in Multiple Areas The Sewer Department simultaneously carried out essential maintenance by unblocking sewer lines in Kanana, Jouberton, and Alabama. These reactive and preventative actions help reduce sewer overflows, minimise health risks, and protect municipal sanitation infrastructure. Image: Office of the Executive Mayor City of Matlosana Local Municipality Major Roads Resurfaced in La Hoff On Wednesday, 26 November 2025, the City’s Roads Department began a series of resurfacing operations in La Hoff. - Cachet Park CID Removes 200 Tonnes of Waste from the Bult Every Month
A continued partnership between the Cachet Park City Improvement District (CID) and its waste-management service provider, Deswalner Recycling, is yielding significant results for the Bult area in Potchefstroom. On average, the team removes around 200 tonnes of waste per month , with roughly 140 tonnes diverted away from municipal landfills through recycling and recovery efforts. This initiative has become a vital component of keeping the busy student district clean, safe, and sustainable. Image: The Go-To Guy Creations A Growing Operation with Community Roots Deswalner Recycling first began servicing Cachet Park in 2019. According to Werner van der Merwe, the company’s representative, the partnership was initially motivated through community leadership at North-West University, particularly the late Professor Fika Janse van Rensburg of the Faculty of Theology. Van der Merwe explains that the early operation was modest, processing only 2 to 3 tonnes of recyclable waste per month. With community support and increased capacity, the organisation expanded its infrastructure by adding a larger facility in 2021. This growth enabled them to handle significantly higher volumes of waste, ultimately reaching the current average of 200 tonnes monthly . Deswalner Recycling’s reach extends beyond Potchefstroom, with similar projects operating in Orlando East, Mooifontein, Kya Sands, and parts of Klerksdorp. Still, the Bult remains one of their most impactful sites, given its mix of student life, businesses, and residential activity. Daily Waste Removal and Recycling Process The waste-collection process is carefully structured. Workers load refuse from CID bins into trolleys, transporting 10 to 12 full loads daily to a central weighing station. Materials suitable for recycling are sorted and processed, reducing the pressure on municipal landfill sites. Items that cannot be recovered are transported responsibly to the nearest waste-disposal facility. Van der Merwe notes that the team’s work has a visible impact on the cleanliness of the Bult , emphasising that the area would look very different without consistent waste-removal services. He also highlights ongoing plans to engage North-West University residences in future recycling initiatives, expanding the collaborative effort. Encouraging Responsibility and Awareness Beyond operational success, Deswalner Recycling hopes to inspire behavioural change. Van der Merwe urges residents, students, and visitors to take simple steps such as using bins responsibly and avoiding littering. Public awareness, he believes, plays a major role in sustaining urban cleanliness. The Cachet Park CID echoes this sentiment, noting that their partnership ensures the Bult remains a functional, attractive, and hygienic space for thousands of people daily. The scale of the operation (200 tonnes of waste per month) underscores the ongoing need for reliable services and community cooperation. Image: Cachet Park CID Final Note The collaborative efforts between Cachet Park CID and Deswalner Recycling illustrate how structured waste management can reshape a community environment. With a strong focus on recycling, operational efficiency, and educational outreach, the initiative continues to deliver tangible benefits to the Bult and greater Potchefstroom. As the programme grows, it offers a model for sustainable urban maintenance rooted in partnership, responsibility, and long-term impact. #TheGoToGuy #CachetParkCID #DeswalnerRecycling #BultPotchefstroom #CommunityCleanup #SustainableLiving 🚮♻️🏙️🤝🌿
Die Liggiefees vind plaas by Najaarsrus in Parys, by 64 Dolfstraat.

Dit is ook tydens hierdie voorval waar haar man in die hospitaal was, so dit was ‘n vreeslike moeilike tyd in hul lewe. Sommige verwys na haar as die go-to persoon in Potchefstroom wanneer dit kom by geslagsgeweld. Terug by die kompetisie. Rising Star: The Rapid Ascent of Kamogelo Malefo in South African Football Kamogelo Malefo is one of South Africa’s most promising young football talents, rising quickly from the Tiki Taka Sports Academy to the Kaizer Chiefs development system. He gained national attention after recording an exceptional 16 goals and 18 assists in only 18 matches - statistics that highlight his creativity, intelligence, and natural attacking instinct. His impressive performances earned him a place in Kaizer Chiefs’ U19 squad, aligning with the club’s commitment to rebuilding through young, technically gifted players. Coaches praise his blend of flair, discipline, and versatility across attacking positions, seeing him as a potential future first-team contributor. Malefo has also demonstrated emotional maturity, continuing to train and perform despite the loss of his grandmother in 2025, a figure deeply important in his life. His strong work ethic and resilience set him apart from many players his age. While still early in his career, Malefo’s talent, attitude, and development environment position him as a young star to watch. If he continues progressing and adapts to the demands of senior football, he could become a notable presence in the PSL and possibly the national team. His story is only beginning, but the trajectory points toward a bright future in South African football. - Kersfatel Dag bring ’n bietjie skattejag Klerksdorp toe - 29 November
Will Hunt Antiques & Collectables hou op Saterdag 29 November 2025 hul Kersfatel Dag in Adamayview, Klerksdorp. Hoekom so ’n dag? So ja, as jy hou van browse, vintage vibes, of net wil sien watse odd treasures in Klerksdorp rondlê, is Kersfatel Dag ’n solid Saterdagplan.
- Personalised Nutrition & Weekly Weigh-Ins: A Practical Path to Better Health
Personalised nutrition has become a powerful alternative to the endless cycle of fad diets and one-size-fits-all eating plans. Instead of forcing people into rigid programs, a custom diet and meal plan adapts to an individual’s body, lifestyle, preferences, and goals. When paired with simple weekly weigh-ins, this approach creates clarity, accountability, and sustainable results, helping people build healthier habits that last. Image: The Go-To Guy Creations What Is a Custom Diet & Meal Plan? A custom diet and meal plan is a personalised nutritional blueprint designed around an individual’s unique needs. Unlike generic diets, it considers a person’s health conditions, activity level, daily routine, food preferences, allergies, and long-term goals. It’s flexible enough to fit someone who is vegan, gluten-free, or simply a picky eater. This personalised approach starts with understanding the person behind the plan: What foods do they enjoy? What does a typical day look like? What are their non-negotiables? By working with real-life preferences, whether it’s a dislike for oily fish or a love for dessert, a custom plan becomes practical instead of punishing. Custom plans also prioritise balanced nutrition. They go far beyond calorie counting, ensuring the right mix of proteins, carbohydrates, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals. A highly active person may need more complex carbs and protein for energy, while someone with specific medical needs may require additional fiber or micronutrients. By meeting the body’s unique requirements, personalised nutrition helps people function at their best while still enjoying the food they eat. Benefits of Personalising Nutrition 1. Sustainable, Long-Term Habits A custom plan fits naturally into someone’s life, making it easier to maintain. People don’t have to choke down foods they hate or follow extreme rules that disrupt their routine. Instead, they enjoy meals that are both nutritious and appealing. This leads to consistency, something fad diets almost never achieve. Over time, those consistent choices become lifelong habits. 2. Balanced, Safe & Effective Nutrition Everyone’s body needs something slightly different. Personalised plans take age, metabolism, lifestyle, and health conditions into account, helping prevent deficiencies and supporting health goals. Someone with anemia can focus on iron-rich foods, while an athlete can fuel for performance. Tailoring nutrition in this way helps maintain energy levels, support immunity, and improve overall well-being. 3. Emotional Well-Being Food affects more than the body, it also influences mood and mental health. Personalised plans reduce the stress and guilt often associated with dieting. Because the plan is enjoyable and realistic, people experience less frustration and more emotional stability. Custom meal plans can also include foods known to support cognitive function and mood, such as omega-3 fats, complex carbohydrates, and nutrient-dense vegetables. This fosters a healthier relationship with food and creates emotional resilience during the health journey. 4. Increased Confidence & Knowledge Working with a nutrition professional or learning through personal experimentation empowers individuals. They gain a deeper understanding of what works for their body and why. Instead of feeling overwhelmed by conflicting diet advice, they follow a clear, tailored direction, building confidence and motivation along the way. Why Weekly Weigh-Ins Matter A custom meal plan guides what to eat, but weekly weigh-ins show how well the strategy is working. Weighing in once a week provides structure and feedback without the emotional rollercoaster of daily weigh-ins. 1. Progress Tracking Weekly weigh-ins give factual, consistent insight into progress. Trends become easy to spot, whether the goal is weight loss, gain, or maintenance. If weight is moving in the right direction, it signals that the plan is effective. If it stalls or shifts unexpectedly, it becomes an early sign that adjustments may be needed. 2. Accountability Knowing a weekly check-in is coming encourages healthier decisions throughout the week. It’s a gentle reminder of one’s goals and helps discourage mindless eating or skipped workouts. Some people like sharing their weigh-ins with a coach or supportive friend, adding a bit more accountability without pressure. 3. Motivation & Focus Seeing progress on the scale, even small changes, can be motivating. On slower weeks, the weigh-in still serves as a moment to refocus. This consistent routine helps develop patience and reinforces the understanding that health improvements happen over time. 4. Early Detection of Issues Weekly tracking helps people catch plateaus or sudden changes before they become bigger problems. Subtle weight gain, unexplained loss, or long stalls can signal shifts in habits, health, or stress levels. Early awareness allows for quick adjustments and prevents setbacks. Why Meal Planning + Weekly Weigh-Ins Work So Well Together Think of a personalised meal plan as the roadmap and weekly weigh-ins as the compass. - Weekly Klerksdorp News: Power Restored, Hospital Crunch, Syndicate Strikes, Major Arrests & Community Updates
21–28 November 2025 Klerksdorp and its surrounding areas experienced a demanding and eventful week marked by service delivery challenges, healthcare disruptions, major policing operations, and several significant community incidents. From long-awaited power restoration in Uraniaville to ongoing strain at Tshepong Hospital’s orthopaedic ward, as well as targeted arrests, court proceedings, and neighbourhood tragedies, the week highlighted both the pressures facing local systems and the resilience of the communities affected. Image: The Go-To Guy Creations Uraniaville: Power Restored After 51 Days Electricity was reconnected to a steel business in Uraniaville after a 51-day outage caused by cable theft (29 September–18 November). The restoration followed sustained escalation to media, civic groups and officials, plus private security support to safeguard the site during the outage. Tshepong Orthopaedics: Operations Halted Over Unpaid Suppliers Non-emergency orthopaedic surgeries at the Klerksdorp Tshepong Hospital Complex were halted from late October after suppliers suspended delivery of implants and hardware due to unpaid invoices reported to be near R25 million. Patients reported deferments and discharges without surgery, and detailed queries were sent to the health department regarding clinical risk management, pain control, emergency procurement, and accountability, no formal reply was received at the time of reporting. Motorcycle Theft Syndicate: Smash-and-Grab in Minutes A showroom in the CBD suffered two smash-and-grab incidents targeting high-value adventure motorcycles, with combined damages near R1 million. CCTV shows a quick entry/exit using a light utility vehicle. Security upgrades are underway and information leading to arrests is being sought. Health Department Update: Funding Allocated; Backlog Remains Provincial health authorities attributed the orthopaedic stoppage to a region-wide patient load and confirmed outstanding invoices of about R18.1 million for implant sets. Funding has reportedly been allocated and invoices are being processed, with “marathon” theatre sessions planned to clear the backlog once stock arrives. Individual patients continue to report postponed surgeries and socioeconomic strain in the interim. Safer Festive Season: 994 Arrests in One Week Between 10–16 November, coordinated operations across five districts led to 994 arrests, including 366 wanted suspects and 15 undocumented migrants. Inspections under Liquor and Second-Hand Goods legislation resulted in multiple closures and confiscations. Targeted actions in Ventersdorp seized narcotics valued at approximately R32 000; an inter-provincial N12 roadblock yielded arrests for immigration and drug offences; and a separate murder case in Rustenburg progressed with a suspect remanded. Kanana Appeal: Help Identify Rape Suspect Police appealed for assistance to identify a suspect sought in the rape of a 15-year-old in Extension 4 on 19 August. A physical description was provided, and community members were asked to share information via the local FCS Unit, Crime Stop (08600 10111), or the MySAPS app. Court: UIF Fraud Case Proceeds Three accused appeared in the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court in connection with a fraudulent UIF claim processed in 2019 (value just over R53 000). Alleged downstream transfers to two public officials form part of the case record. Bail was set at R2 000 each; the matter was postponed to 7 January. North Suburbs: 57-Hour Blackout Traced to Materials Shortfall A high-voltage feeder failure from Doringkruin to Monica West caused a roughly 57-hour outage (23–25 November) affecting the northern suburbs. Repair delays were linked to unavailable HV joints and a halted cable-replacement project tied to contractor non-payment. Calls were made for internal investigation and supply-chain remediation. No municipal response had been received at deadline. Songloed: Fatal Home Invasion Under Investigation A widowed parent was fatally shot during a home invasion in the early hours of 21 November. Family support, counselling and community assistance are in progress. No arrests were confirmed at the time of reporting; the investigation continues. Orkney SAPS: Station of the Year Orkney police station received a provincial excellence award for overall performance, with cited reductions in contact and property crimes (approximately 25% and 28% respectively). Klerksdorp and Stilfontein stations received runner-up and third-place recognition. Final note of the pen As the week drew to a close, Klerksdorp once again reflected the realities of a community navigating complex pressures while continuing to move forward. Ongoing investigations, service restoration efforts, and progress in certain sectors underscore both the challenges and the determination within the city. With residents, authorities, and support organisations each playing a role, the coming weeks will reveal how these issues develop and what improvements may follow. #TheGoToGuy #KlerksdorpNews #NorthWestUpdate #CommunitySafety #ServiceDelivery #HealthCareWatch 📰🏙️⚡️🏥🚓
- Potch Weekly WhatsApp Chatter & Service Update 20–27 November 2025
Over the past few days, various Potchefstroom-based WhatsApp groups have been actively used by residents and ward representatives to report, respond to, and discuss ongoing municipal challenges. The conversations captured real-time accounts of power outages, cable faults, road hazards, water leaks, animal rescues, and weather warnings. These interactions not only highlighted service delivery concerns but also demonstrated the important role local communication platforms continue to play in fostering public awareness, safety coordination, and neighbourhood responsiveness. ⚡ Power Outages and Cable Theft Across Suburbs Numerous neighbourhoods in Potchefstroom experienced widespread and prolonged electricity outages during the past week. Silver Street, Mooivalleipark, Wilgeboom, MC Roode, Waterberry, Junction Mall, Chris Hani, Nieuwe Street, Borckenhagen, Phillips Avenue and surrounding areas all reported blackouts. Feedback shared by residents across various WhatsApp groups indicated ongoing repair efforts, but many complained about unanswered calls to the municipal and disaster management centres. Several of the outages were linked to weather-related faults and suspected cable theft, with technicians seen working in multiple affected streets throughout the week. Repairs in some areas were delayed by severe weather conditions. In Phillipslaan and Chris Hani, a confirmed incident of cable theft was reported on 27 November, contributing to outages and restoration delays. Officials advised residents to report issues directly to disaster management hotlines to assist with escalations. 🌧 Weather Alerts and Safety Warnings A yellow Level 4 warning for severe thunderstorms was issued on 25 November, affecting both the North West and Free State provinces. Alerts warned of heavy rain, hail, strong winds, and possible flash flooding. WhatsApp group messages circulated practical safety tips, including clearing gutters, securing outdoor furniture, and avoiding flooded roads. Residents also reported storm-related hazards in various streets, including a fallen tree at the Thabo Mbeki/Albert Luthuli intersection and water pooling in low-lying areas. 🛣 Road Incidents & Traffic Notices Approved protest action occurred on 21 November in the Steve Biko and Meyer Street area, with notifications issued to help drivers avoid congestion. A truck breakdown at an intersection further compounded traffic issues that same day. On 25 November, a motor vehicle accident on the N12 near Klerksdorp was reported, with authorities attending the scene. Other areas with temporary obstructions included roads near Ventersdorp, where rainfall caused temporary disruptions. 💧 Water Leaks and Supply Disruptions Water infrastructure issues continued, with several groups discussing leaks and low pressure. A major leak in Maherry Street on 23 November drew community attention due to the volume of water flowing along the road. Additional complaints surfaced about weak water pressure in Baillie Park, where a leak in Pavey Street was later identified as a possible cause. By 25 November, multiple reports of reduced water supply in parts of Smit Street, Suikerbos Street, and Rivier Street were circulating. Community members were added to WhatsApp groups dedicated to specific water issues, including a subgroup for Baillie Park. 🐾 Lost Pets & Animal Safety Alerts Lost and roaming animals dominated discussions for several days. Reports of loose dogs in Aarbeilaan, Elandstraat, OR Tambo, and Govan Mbeki were shared frequently. In one case, a German Shepherd-type dog escaped near Louw Street Spar and was seen darting through traffic before being reunited with its owner. Another dog was picked up near Miederpark Spar and taken to Paws Haven. A parrot was also reported missing in the Smit Street area after escaping during stormy conditions. Community members offered help to locate the pet, demonstrating ongoing support networks in place via the local WhatsApp groups. 🧾 Council Meetings & Delays The scheduled municipal council meeting on 25 November was adjourned after some councillors failed to receive agenda documentation in time. Residents were notified that the meeting would resume the following week. Separate messages encouraged voters to update their registration details for the 2026 local elections, with walk-in assistance offered by ward representatives. 🗑 Refuse Removal & Public Services On 25 November, delays in refuse removal services led to multiple queries. An official update confirmed that waste collection had been postponed to the following morning. Residents were asked to keep bins out for early collection. 📢 Community Petitions & Noise Complaints Noise pollution and disturbances during festive seasons were raised again, with messages urging support for a public petition aimed at strengthening local enforcement of anti-noise regulations. A petition link was circulated, accompanied by messages calling for better compliance with existing bylaws and regulations. Final Chat Throughout the week, WhatsApp groups in Potchefstroom served as active platforms for rapid reporting, mutual aid, and local updates on outages, weather alerts, road closures, lost pets, and public service delays. From electricity faults to civic actions and storm damage, residents continue to depend on community-driven communication for real-time information and local coordination.
