Die magie het nog nie gesak nie en kan dus nog dien as ‘n skinkbord. 9 maande. 36 weke. Nog vier om te gaan. Dis die weird ding, nè? Nege maande is gewoonlik 36 weke (as jy op vier weke per maand werk), maar vrouens loop met baba tot op 40 weke - so ons is tegnies 10 maande swanger, dan nie? Nietemin, hierdie swangerskap het gevlieg! Sciatica nerve pain is real, ek rol rond soos ‘n rotisserie hoender wanneer ek in die aand slaap en gereelde badkamer trippies is nou deel van my slaap roetine. Dan praat ek nie eens van die swangerskap waggel wat kort-kort kop wil uitsteek of die vergeetagtigheid (pregnancy brain noem die slimmes dit). Mý pregnancy glow is, sonder twyfel, sweet, want alles is drie keer moeiliker en vat vier keer langer met hierdie logge lyfie. Sooibrand is in volle swang en night sweats het ook hierdie gesprek betree - dankie tog eers tydens hierdie trimester! Daar is ‘n vroutjie wie ek op Instagram volg wie vir byna 22 weke morning sickness gehad het en haar nuutste simptoom is dat sy in haar slaap opgooi (sheesh!)…altyd iets om voor dankbaar te wees, nè? Kyk, ek is glad nie een vir die kollig nie en as iemand te lank na my kyk, raak ek super selfbewus, so dit was maar ‘n mental uitdaging vir my, want dit is redelik moeilik om my en my pensie mis te kyk. Mans, in hierdie opsig, is so chilled oor hierdie dag. Hulle gaan slaan ‘n paar balle op die gholfbaan of gaan gooi ‘n visstok in die dam en daar sal hulle blom vir die hele dag; onthou net ‘n tjoppie en doppie en hulle is happy campers. Dit is ook natuurlik iets wat heeltemal verander het van wat ek kan onthou en wat my ma my vertel het. Vroeër jare het hulle sommer ‘n babatee by iemand se huis in hulle tuin gehou, die mamma het nie daarvan geweet nie en was skoon uit die veld geslaan sodra sy besef wat aangaan. Sommiges moes selfs ‘n doek aantrek en ‘n groot fopspeen om hul nek dra terwyl daar lekker, lawwe speletjies gespeel word. Vandag se tees is baie meer dainty en gesofistikeerd. Daar word ‘n venue gehuur vir die groot dag, ‘n spyskaart word vooraf bespreek en bestel en mamma weet natuurlik van alles. En moenie dink daar was 'n ding soos 'n doekebraai nie. Ander inhoudskeppers wys weer watter strekke gedoen kan word om te verhoed dat jy skeur of watter soort oefeninge jy moet doen om jou baba in minder as 20 minute uit te druk. Jy kan jou hele swangerskap deur elke dag oefen, al die strekke doen, jou dadels en pynappels eet of jou tee klokslag drink en dit is dalk steeds nodig om induksie of ‘n keisier te kry en/of jy kan vir twee ure druk en boonop derdegraadse skeurwonde opdoen.
