This month is all about capability, deep product ranges, and proving exactly why this store remains the ultimate one-stop destination for the North West province's building needs. Build It Potchefstroom is stepping up as the strategic partner where the upcoming building season officially begins. To ensure local projects kick off without a hitch, the store is guiding builders through a crucial pre-season checklist: Material Ordering Timelines: Securing bulk allocations early to avoid spring stock shortages. Building on the massive success of their recent water filtration system feature, the store is rolling out exclusive product deep-dives this month. Through highly engaging department walkthroughs and spotlight features, customers get an insider look at specialized tools, energy-efficient solutions, and premium finishes. Whether a contractor is looking for advanced waterproofing compounds or a DIY enthusiast is hunting for the latest seasonal favourites, the depth of the range on display ensures no one walks away empty-handed. Image(Facebook) : Build It Potchefstroom The Logistics Advantage: We Deliver the Heavy Lifting A massive inventory is only as good as a builder's ability to get it to the job site. For contractors managing multiple active projects simultaneously, or homeowners who lack the transport for bulk timber, cement, and bricks, logistics can make or break a project. "Convenience isn’t just about a friendly face at the counter; it’s about getting the right materials to the right site, precisely when they are needed." Build It Potchefstroom’s robust delivery and logistics feature takes center stage this July. By highlighting their reliable fleet and efficient delivery turnaround times, the store removes the logistical headache from the building process.

• Understanding the Sentinel Threat: Global Observance of World Zoonoses Day

July 6, 2026, marks the annual global observance of World Zoonoses Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about zoonotic diseases, infections that naturally transmit between animals and humans. The date holds significant historical relevance, commemorating July 6, 1885, when French biologist Louis Pasteur successfully administered the first vaccine against rabies, a deadly zoonotic virus. Today, international health organizations, scientific communities, and veterinary sectors utilize this occasion to highlight the shifting dynamics of global disease transmission and the critical intersection of human, animal, and environmental systems. Image: The Go-To Guy Creations The Scope and Impact of Zoonotic Pathogens Zoonotic diseases represent a substantial portion of public health challenges worldwide. Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) indicate that approximately 60% of all existing human infectious diseases, and roughly 75% of emerging infectious diseases, originate in animals. These pathogens span a wide biological spectrum, including viruses, bacteria, parasites, and fungi. Disease Type Common Examples Primary Transmission Vectors/Hosts Viral Rabies, Avian Influenza, Ebola, Nipah, COVID-19 Dogs, bats, wild primates, poultry Bacterial Leptospirosis, Anthrax, Bovine Tuberculosis Rodents, livestock, contaminated water Parasitic/Vector-borne Scrub Typhus, Lyme Disease, Toxoplasmosis Mites, ticks, domestic cats Transmission occurs through various pathways. Direct contact with an infected animal's saliva, blood, urine, or feces remains a primary route, particularly for professionals working closely with wildlife or livestock. Indirect transmission frequently occurs through environmental contamination, such as walking through floodwaters laden with rodent urine (a common cause of Leptospirosis spikes during monsoon seasons) or consuming undercooked meat, unpasteurized milk, and vegetables irrigated with contaminated water. The Integrated Framework of "One Health" As environmental degradation, climate change, rapid urbanization, and global wildlife trade accelerate, the frequency of "spillover events", where a pathogen jumps from an animal host to humans, has risen. In response, global health authorities increasingly advocate for the One Health approach. This framework operates on the principle that human health is inextricably linked to the health of animals and the shared environment. Rather than treating human outbreaks in isolation, One Health initiatives emphasize multi-sectoral collaboration. This includes integrating data from veterinary clinics, wildlife ecologists, and public health surveillance systems to detect potential pathogens before they cross the species barrier. Preventative measures championed on this day include: Routine Vaccination: Maintaining up-to-date immunizations for domestic pets and livestock, particularly against rabies. Hygiene and Bio-security: Practicing rigorous hand hygiene after animal contact and enforcing strict food-safety protocols in agricultural industries. Environmental Stewardship: Preserving natural habitats to minimize unnatural wildlife-human interfaces, which frequently drive emerging outbreaks. A Unified Front for Public Health World Zoonoses Day serves as a critical reminder that global health security is not solely a medical responsibility but an ecological and agricultural one. By analyzing the root causes of disease transmission and fostering cross-disciplinary cooperation, global institutions aim to mitigate the socio-economic and clinical impacts of these infections. Ultimately, understanding and addressing the animal-human health interface remains a foundational pillar in preventing future pandemic events and safeguarding communities worldwide. #WorldZoonosesDay #OneHealth 🌍🔬🐕🩺

  • Springboks Dominate England to Launch Nations Championship Campaign and Shake Up Squad for Scotland

The Springboks launched their 2026 Nations Championship campaign in spectacular fashion, dispatching a resilient England side 45-21 at a roaring Ellis Park. Defying pre-match skeptics who questioned the vibrancy of Johannesburg's historic rugby venue, 52,790 passionate fans turned out to watch the world's top-ranked team deliver a commanding seven-try masterclass. The resounding bonus-point victory immediately propelled the Springboks to the summit of the South conference standings after the opening round of the tournament. Blitz Start and English Resistance at Ellis Park The Springboks were forced into late disruptions before kick-off, losing stalwarts Siya Kolisi and Eben Etzebeth to injury. The late reshuffle saw Paul de Villiers and Cameron Hanekom step into the starting backrow, while Pieter-Steph du Toit assumed the captaincy. Despite the changes, the hosts found immediate inspiration from Damian Willemse and Cheslin Kolbe, both celebrating their milestone 50th Test caps. Willemse ignited the opening assault, tearing down the left flank to set up a powerful close-range finish from prop Thomas du Toit. Moments later, Ox Nche broke through the English midfield, transferring the ball to Kolbe, who danced past the defense to secure a quick-fire 12-0 lead. The momentum continued when Kurt-Lee Arendse finished a slick backline move in the corner, extending the cushion to 17-0 within the opening quarter. However, a yellow card to Arendse for a deliberate knockdown shifted the game's dynamic. Capitalizing on the numerical advantage, England mounted a fierce comeback before halftime. Prop Ellis Genge crashed over from short range, followed quickly by a try from lock George Martin after a defensive lapse from the hosts. Fin Smith converted both, narrowing the Springbok advantage to a tense 17-14 at the interval. Second-Half Surge Seals Opening Win The Springboks quickly re-established control after the break. Reverting to their trademark power game, a heavy driving maul set the platform for scrumhalf Grant Williams to snipe through a breakdown for a crucial try. As the bench was introduced, the forward pack continued to generate decisive momentum, allowing center Jesse Kriel to cross the line and extend the scoreline to 31-14. England responded via a rolling maul try from Alex Coles, but their comeback hopes evaporated in the final ten minutes due to severe disciplinary issues. High tackles and cynical play saw both Tommy Freeman and Guy Pepper sent to the sin bin in rapid succession. Facing a 13-man defense, the Springboks ruthlessly closed out the match. Hooker Malcolm Marx dotted down from a clinical lineout drive, before replacement forward Ben-Jason Dixon powered over from a five-meter scrum to cap off the 45-21 victory. Tournament Standings After Round One Following the opening round of fixtures, the global tournament hierarchy has taken its initial shape. In the North section, Wales leads the pack on point differential, closely pursued by Scotland and Ireland, while England sits at the bottom after their heavy defeat in Johannesburg. In the South section, the Springboks have captured the top spot through their clinical bonus-point performance, establishing an early point-differential buffer over fellow round-one winners Japan and New Zealand. POS TEAM P W D L DIFF. PTS NORTH 1 WALES 1 1 0 0 15 5 2 SCOTLAND 1 1 0 0 9 5 3 IRELAND 1 1 0 0 2 5 4 FRANCE 1 0 0 1 -2 2 5 ITALY 1 0 0 1 -17 0 6 ENGLAND 1 0 0 1 -24 0 SOUTH 1 SOUTH AFRICA 1 1 0 0 24 5 2 NEW ZEALAND 1 1 0 0 2 5 3 JAPAN 1 1 0 0 17 4 4 AUSTRALIA 1 0 0 1 -2 2 5 ARGENTINA 1 0 0 1 -9 1 6 FIJI 1 0 0 1 -15 0 Radical Squad Rotation for Pretoria Test With the opening victory secured, Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus has maintained his policy of building squad depth, engineering a massive 10 changes to the starting lineup for the upcoming Round 2 clash against Scotland at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria. Only five players retain their starting positions from the England victory: Jesse Kriel, Damian Willemse, Ruan Nortje, Paul de Villiers, and captain Pieter-Steph du Toit. The overhauled backline features Aphelele Fassi at fullback, flanked by wings Edwill van der Merwe and Canan Moodie. A new halfback pairing of Handre Pollard and Embrose Papier will direct play on their home franchise ground. Up front, an entirely fresh front row consisting of Boan Venter, Johan Grobbelaar, and Wilco Louw takes charge, while Cobus Wiese enters the second row to partner Nortje. Several key players, including Kolisi, Etzebeth, Lood de Jager, Franco Mostert, and Ox Nche, remain sidelined with minor injuries. Erasmus emphasized that managing workloads and testing combinations against a dangerous Scottish outfit, who enter the match following an away win over Argentina, remains paramount for the long-term trajectory of the 2026 season. Final Whistle The comprehensive bonus-point victory over England provides the Springboks with an ideal foundation for the Nations Championship, validating the team's tactical execution under pressure. While the coaching staff has opted for radical experimentation ahead of the Scotland Test, historical data remains heavily in South Africa's favor. The Springboks boast an 83.3% winning percentage against the Scots, having won the last nine successive encounters. As the tournament shifts to the Highveld of Pretoria for the first time in history between these two nations, the rotated squad faces a clear mandate to maintain momentum and defend their position at the top of the standings. • Blitz and Pieces: Brilliant Bok Women Crush USA at Ellis Park

The Springbok Women delivered a statement performance in Johannesburg, producing an authoritative display of power and clinical finishing to down the USA Women 34-21 at Ellis Park. Built on a foundation of an unstoppable first-half onslaught, Swys de Bruin’s charges put on a tactical masterclass before the break, leaving the visitors stunned and ultimately securing a memorable victory on home soil. First-Half Blitz Blows Eagles Away From the opening whistle, the home side looked determined to stamp their authority on the contest. The South Africans completely dominated territory and possession, setting up a virtual camp inside the USA half. The breakthrough came early in the 6th minute when the rampant Vainah Ubisi ripped through the defense, eating up massive meters before unselfishly giving the ball to speedster Ayanda Malinga to open the scoring. Jakkie Cilliers kicked the extras to set the tone. The relentless pressure didn't let up. By the 12th minute, Unam Tose breached the Eagles' defensive lines through patience and precise phase play. Midway through the half, captain Babalwa Latsha mirrored that exact directness, powering over to add her name to the scoresheet. The clinical edge reached its peak just before the interval. Hooking onto the dominance of their attacking scrums, Logan Welman struck twice in the final ten minutes of the half. With Cilliers adding her second conversion, the Springbok Women marched into the tunnels with a resounding 29-0 lead. Resilient Wall Holds Off Second-Half Resurgence South Africa immediately picked up where they left off after the restart. Continuing her stellar afternoon, Ubisi capped off a period of sustained pressure to cross the whitewash, extending the lead to an emphatic 34-0. With the result firmly on their side, coach Swys de Bruin rang the changes to inject fresh legs. However, the commanding lead sparked a fierce response from the American outfit, who began to dictate terms as unforced errors began creeping into the South African game. On the hour mark, Freda Tafuna crashed through for the USA's opening points, converted by Annabella Vogel. Six minutes later, a defensive lapse allowed Tessa Hann to break the line, setting up Ashley Cowdrey to score under the uprights. A final consolation try came from Elizabeth Cook just four minutes from time via a series of heavy pick-and-drives. While the Eagles managed to put respectability back onto the scoreboard, the first-half foundation built by the South Africans proved too steep a mountain to climb. Match Scorers Springbok Women 34 (29) Tries: Ayanda Malinga, Unam Tose, Babalwa Latsha, Logan Welman (2), Vainah Ubisi. Conversions: Jakkie Cilliers (2). USA Women 21 (0) Tries: Freda Tafuna, Ashley Cowdrey, Elizabeth Cook. Conversions: Annabella Vogel (3). Next Fixture Match: Springbok Women vs USA Women (2nd Test) Date: Saturday, 11 July 2026 Venue: Loftus Versfeld, Pretoria Final whistle While the second-half drop in execution will give the coaching staff areas to address, the victory represents a monumental stepping stone for the Springbok Women. Sinking five tries before the break showcased a level of world-class tactical management and execution that signals an incredibly bright future. This historic victory over a higher-ranked USA team proves that South Africa's investment in women's rugby is paying off massively on the big stage. June 29: Getting Festive – The Potch Geesfees 2026 Sneak Peek Later on Monday, we shifted focus to one of the most anticipated community highlights on our annual calendar. The excitement surrounding Potch Geesfees 2026 is already hitting a fever pitch, so we sat down for an exclusive chat with festival organizer Elbe to find out exactly what is cooking behind the scenes. If you thought last year’s event was massive, Elbe dropped some major teasers that prove 2026 is going to completely redefine our local festival culture: Family-First Innovations: Massive structural shifts and brand-new layout plans have been finalized to make the festival layout safer, more accessible, and infinitely more entertaining for the entire family. June 30: Screen-Spitting Tech at NTT BYD Potchefstroom Tuesday took our team over to the automotive sector to experience the future of new-age mobility. If you are under the impression that all modern vehicles are starting to feel a bit identical, you clearly haven't stepped inside the new BYD range over at NTT BYD Potchefstroom (Farm 428, Vyfhoek, Nelson Mandela Drive N12). Our field presenter popped into the showroom to conduct a hands-on review of the highly unique, incredibly futuristic tech features that are causing a massive stir globally. The standout feature? A central infotainment touchscreen that literally rotates 90 degrees at the touch of a button to transition between landscape and portrait modes! Juxtaposed against ultra-smart voice-activated cabin controls and intelligent driver-assist systems, these vehicles are redefining what a modern cockpit feels like. Check out our dashboard clip to see the tech in action! Image(Facebook) : Build It Potchefstroom July 2: Battling the Winter Chill with Build it By mid-week, the local temperature plummeted, and we knew our followers would be looking for immediate warmth. We took a stroll across their retail floor to check out the current availability of high-performance heating models: Gas Heaters: The absolute definitive solution for warming up large, open-plan living areas or drafty rooms rapidly. The sheer level of creativity displayed by these local kids was breathtaking. Congratulations to all the creative families who participated, you made West Acres proud! July 2: Stress-Free Shopping for Moms at Green Health To wrap up our local field coverage on Thursday afternoon, we highlighted a brilliant, highly empathetic business upgrade centered around family wellness. Image : The Go-To Guy - Aardklop StroomStories: The Approaching Magic of Aardklop Even without our physical studio layout on display this week, the cultural pulse of our city remains stronger than ever. The countdown to the prestigious Momentum Aardklop National Arts Festival is officially underway, and the town is buzzing with artistic anticipation. Our digital StroomStories audio segments dropped some critical insider tips to help you maximize your festival experience this year. If you want to experience world-class theater without breaking the bank, plan your visits for a Tuesday or a Wednesday, as ticket structures are specifically discounted on those days. Furthermore, early birds get rewarded, the festival has confirmed that special, exclusive opening surprises are waiting for the first 500 festival-goers who step through the gates each day! Tickets are moving exceptionally fast on SeatMe, so make sure to secure your seats early. We also spent time reflecting on the pure, unique magic of Potchefstroom. In our latest digital clip, we unpacked the fascinating experience of urbanites visiting our town for the first time during festival season. They are consistently blown away by our signature "small-town hospitality" and a tight-knit community spirit that genuinely treats complete strangers like extended family. Image(Created) : The Go-To Guy Our Eyes in the Field: Ikageng June 29: Nurturing World-Class Talent at the Ikageng Cricket Hub Our ground-level coverage in Ikageng brought forward an immensely powerful, two-part sports documentary feature. We had the true privilege of visiting the Ikageng Cricket Hub to conduct separate, deeply moving interviews with Coach Kabi and Coach April. Both mentors spoke with intense passion regarding the raw, unvarnished realities of managing a grassroots sports program in the township. They discussed the daily logistical hurdles, navigating the diverse socio-economic backgrounds of their players, and the intense mental preparation required to get their squads locked in and competitive for the upcoming league matches. But more than just teaching cover drives and bowling lines, both coaches emphasized a singular, profound mantra: "It’s more than just a game; it’s about changing local lives." To prove exactly what is possible when raw talent meets dedicated opportunity, we looked closely at the legendary blueprint of Nthabiseng Nini. Nthabiseng walked these exact same training grounds in Ikageng, polished her skills through the hub, and rose through the ranks to officially represent North West Cricket before making it all the way to the Cricket World Cup stage! She stands as living proof that world-class excellence is bred right in our backyard. Hit that play button on our sports reel, drop a ❤️ in the comments to support the hub, and let’s keep backing our youth! July 1: Commuters Stand Firm – The Great R25 Taxi Boycott To wrap up our Week 27 diary, we turn our attention to an incredibly tense, historic socio-economic development unfolding across the transport routes of Ikageng. July 1st officially marked Day One of the taxi association’s newly implemented R25 local taxi fare—a sharp R5 increase that immediately pushed hard-pressed local commuters to their breaking point. In an unprecedented display of community solidarity, Ikageng residents have chosen to launch a total, widespread boycott of the local minibuses. Videos circulating across our platforms showcase the incredible sight of hundreds of workers, students, and elders choosing to brave the freezing winter mornings, walking miles from the N12 national road all the way into the Potchefstroom town center rather than paying the extra fare. The financial impact on operators has been immediate and severe; with local ranks completely deserted, multiple taxi drivers have already parked their vehicles on the verges simply because there is zero business on the tarmac. This is a developing high-stakes standoff between the association's pricing structures and the sheer willpower of the community. We are tracking this story closely on the ground to see which side blinks first. Final Thoughts on Week 27 From high-tech dashboards and family-first shopping spaces to historical sports triumphs and deep community resilience on the tarmac, Week 27 has proven once again that our municipality is defined by its vibrant character and unbreakable spirit. We are moving deeper into a winter characterized by powerful voices and incredible community action. Keep your eyes locked on our primary feeds for real-time score updates, developing transport news, and local business highlights. Drive safely, support your local vendors, and let’s make the new week count!

Volgens hom is daar ’n eenvoudige rede waarom die video sekerlik by aanhangers aanklank sal vind. “Mense love ’n goeie romantiese video.” Met “Vra Net Vir Jou” lewer Gerhard Steyn nóg ’n opregte liefdesliedjie wat nie net sy eie verhaal vertel nie, maar ook ruimte laat vir luisteraars om hul eie herinneringe, drome en liefdesverhale daarin te herken.
