My Family Cinema is afgeskakel. En die rede? Roofkyk, ook bekend as Piracy, kopiereg se vierletter‑woord. Want gerief is ’n verleidelike ding. The Block se jongste drama? So ja, dis klaar.

  • Mo’s, malls & mega-TV’s: ’n Potch Black Friday verhaal

Beeld: The Go-To Guy Creations Die Mo-mentum bou Movember is nie net ’n grap oor snorre nie. So as jy ’n brose lip sien wat moedig deur die stoppelstadiumnaviger, gee hom ’n knik: daai Mo vertel ’n storie. #BlesBrigade #MoGoals.” Intussen wag sy swaer buite by die bakkie met ’n maatband en vra die noodsaaklike vraag: “Gaan die TV by die braairooster verby of moet ons hom deur die skuifdeur in?” Beeld: The Go-To Guy Creations En… Sien jou by die Mall, jy kan nie my snor miskyk nie.

Dit was nie bravade nie; dit was ’n praktyk.

  • Weekly Klerksdorp News: Crime Crackdowns, Service Failures, and Community Highlights

Klerksdorp and its surrounding areas experienced a week marked by decisive police action, ongoing municipal and infrastructure challenges, and uplifting community stories. Law enforcement intensified operations, while residents continued to grapple with power disruptions and governance setbacks. At the same time, developments in healthcare and heartfelt local moments offered a glimpse of progress and resilience within the community. Image: The Go-To Guy Creations Police Clamp Down in North West Province Law enforcement agencies across the North West executed extensive operations under Operation Shanela II  between October 20 and 27, resulting in 1 139 arrests . Of these, 480 suspects  were identified through forensic DNA analysis, while 33 illegal immigrants  were also apprehended. The operations included vehicle checkpoints, business inspections, and patrols across multiple districts. Police seized various illegal items including copper cables, explosives, liquor, and drugs . In Ventersdorp, five suspects  were arrested for drug possession worth approximately R21 000 , and in Jouberton, six individuals  were detained for possessing explosives  linked to illegal mining activities. Authorities praised the coordinated effort of law enforcement teams working to enhance community safety as part of the festive season campaign. Ongoing Search for Missing Miner Police in Orkney  are continuing efforts to locate a miner who disappeared five months ago  after entering a shaft for work. Despite comprehensive searches and investigation of all leads, no trace of the 53-year-old man has been found. Authorities have appealed to the public for assistance and provided contact details for those who might have information about the missing person’s whereabouts. The case remains open as investigators pursue every possible lead. Municipal Financial Scandal Deepens The Standing Committee on Provincial Public Accounts (SCOPA)  has revealed that Matlosana Municipality  accumulated more than R11 billion  in unauthorised, irregular, and wasteful expenditure. The figure nearly doubled from R6 billion in the previous financial year, prompting the Public Servants Association (PSA)  to demand a full forensic audit and the suspension of implicated officials. The PSA criticized poor financial controls, mismanagement, and a lack of accountability, saying the situation reflects a “collapse of governance” within the municipality. Officials have also been urged to publish audit findings to restore public confidence and ensure that corrective measures are implemented. Families Raise Funds for Accident Investigation Families of four young people who died in a 2024 vehicle accident  have launched a crowdfunding campaign  to fund a private investigation into the crash. The initiative, hosted on the Back a Buddy  platform, aims to finance expert analysis and a reconstruction of the incident to determine the true cause and ensure justice. The campaign highlights the families’ ongoing pursuit of accountability and transparency amid frustrations with the slow official investigation process. Elderly Man in Court After Fatal Shooting A 73-year-old Stilfontein resident  appeared in court after fatally shooting an intruder attempting to break into his home. The man, who runs a small business from his property, reported repeated break-in attempts over a short period. The suspect was allegedly shot while climbing through a window. He has been released on R1 000 bail , and the case is set to continue in December . Police confirmed that multiple burglaries were reported at the same address within ten days, which may be considered during the ongoing legal proceedings. Lenmed Opens State-of-the-Art Heart Centre The Lenmed Wilmed Park Hospital  celebrated the official launch of its new Heart Centre  on October 23.The event, attended by health officials and community representatives, marked a major advancement in regional healthcare. The facility will offer comprehensive cardiac treatment and emergency interventions using the latest technology. The project forms part of Lenmed’s commitment to improving access to specialised medical care  in the North West. Smart City Project Stalled Plans for the Matlosana Smart City , which was expected to include a hospital, hotel, and housing developments along the N12, have stalled with no visible progress . Officials confirmed that the project, along with 22 other provincial infrastructure initiatives worth more than R90 billion , was rejected for failing to meet funding requirements. Four months after assurances of intervention, no records or reports have been produced, raising concerns about provincial planning efficiency and accountability. Businesses Struggle Amid Power Outages A business in Uraniaville  has been operating without power for more than a month  following cable theft . Despite repeated reports, no repairs have been completed. The outage has resulted in security risks, spoiled goods, and high operating costs as the owner relies on generators to keep the business running. Municipal officials have cited a lack of replacement stock, but residents and business owners question this explanation, given the city’s ongoing financial mismanagement. Development Halted Over Legal Dispute The Hillview housing development  near Doringkruin  has been halted following a ruling by the Appellate Authority . The developer’s appeal was dismissed after it was determined that the company lacked legal standing to act on behalf of the property owner. AfriForum  welcomed the decision, emphasizing the importance of adhering to land use and planning regulations. The organisation has called on the municipality to enforce the ruling and take further action if necessary to uphold lawful development processes. Young Dancer Captures Hearts A video of a six-year-old learner from La Hoff Primary School  dancing at a school concert has gone viral, amassing nearly one million views  on social media. The boy’s energetic performance captured widespread attention, earning him comparisons to local entertainers and praise for his confidence and spontaneity. The story offered a joyful moment for the community and highlighted the positive influence of local schools and teachers in nurturing children’s self-expression. Cable Theft Foiled in Stilfontein A group of men suspected of illegal mining and cable theft  were caught attempting to remove underground internet cables near Stilfonteinweg . The suspects were apprehended during a coordinated operation involving private investigators and police, who intercepted a getaway vehicle on the N12 . Authorities continue to investigate the incident as part of broader efforts to curb infrastructure-related crimes in the region. Inmate Linked to Family Murders A prisoner awaiting trial in Potchefstroom  has been linked to a plot to murder his father and sister  while in custody. Law enforcement operations also brought breakthroughs, underscoring both the region’s challenges and resilience. Khutsong Hostel Residents Still Await Promised Upgrades Despite years of pledges to improve living conditions at the Khutsong Hostel, Gauteng MEC for Human Settlements Tasneem Motara confirmed that no upgrade or relocation plans are currently in place. Residents continue to live amid deteriorating buildings, sewage leaks, and inadequate facilities while awaiting government action. Sewage Leaks Return to Khutsong Extension 3 Residents of Khutsong Extension 3 again face raw sewage spilling into streets, including near Hlanganani Primary School. Despite previous repairs earlier this year, the leaks have resurfaced, raising fears of renewed sinkhole activity. Despite challenging gusts, sailors displayed skill and teamwork, turning the event into a weekend of camaraderie, sport, and celebration of outdoor life. Carletonville Fighters Triumph at Battle of the East Young athletes from Carletonville’s Fight St Kickboxing Club returned from Brakpan victorious after competing at the Battle of the East  tournament on October 25. The team collected numerous medals across categories, earning praise for their dedication, sportsmanship, and growth under the guidance of coach Shihan Chimmy van Winkel. Community Engagement and Lifestyle SPCA Seeks Loving Homes for Abandoned Animals The Carletonville SPCA is appealing to the public to adopt dogs and cats currently in their care. With kennels full of playful puppies and kittens, the organisation encourages visits during weekday and Saturday hours. Residents are reminded to report missing pets promptly, as many strays are brought to the facility. As civic frustration mounts over service failures and infrastructure decay, acts of generosity, youth initiative, and sporting excellence continue to remind residents of the strength found in unity and resilience. #TheGoToGuy #CarletonvilleWeeklyNews #CommunityUpdate #MerafongProtest #PublicSafety #LocalPride 📰🤝🚓💧

  • Leonard Swart: KHS‑Spanlid Verower S-A se “Champion of Champions” Titel!

🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 #KHSTrots #LeonardSwart #ChampionOfChampions #GolfRSA #SportNaSukses

• Spreading Joy and Restoring Dignity Through Service

This festive season, Rotaract Klerksdorp is once again proving that true community impact starts with compassion in action.  As part of their ongoing commitment to uplift local communities, the club has launched two heartfelt projects, each one reflecting the essence of their mission: to serve, empower, and inspire . From giving children in Dominionville a Christmas to remember, to helping adults with disabilities find renewed comfort and dignity at the Daphne Lee Centre, these initiatives are more than just projects, they are expressions of hope and humanity in motion. Image: The Go-To Guy Creations 🎄 A Magical Christmas in Dominionville Every child deserves to experience the wonder of Christmas, the excitement of unwrapping a gift, the joy of laughter-filled games, and the warmth of feeling loved. For many children in Dominionville , those simple joys are often out of reach. But thanks to the Rotaract Club of Klerksdorp , that is changing this December. On 6 December 2025 , the club, together with caring community members and local sponsors, will host a Christmas Party for 55 children  in Dominionville. The goal is simple yet profound, to make each child’s day special, filled with fun, food, and friendship. With a jumping castle and slide already arranged , the team has ensured that the event will be brimming with laughter and excitement. However, what truly makes this initiative special is its focus on personal touches, each child will receive a small Christmas gift pack , filled with love and thoughtful essentials such as: Stationery and school bags Clothing and sanitary items Snacks, sweets, and hotdogs Cooldrinks and small toys Rotaract believes that small gestures can spark lifelong memories. Through this celebration, they aim not just to hand out gifts, but to restore a sense of childhood joy and community belonging . How You Can Help This initiative thrives on generosity, and every bit of support matters. Here’s how you can get involved: Sponsor a child  or donate any of the listed items. Provide food or drinks  for the celebration. Spread the word: share this campaign to inspire others to give. 📍 Drop-off Points: DSIGN Studio – 85 Buffelsdoorn Rd, Wilkoppies, Klerksdorp Ronmar – 73 Platan Ave, Flamwood, Klerksdorp 📞 To donate or sponsor:  Contact Morné at 076 538 4687 This Christmas, a simple act, donating a toy, packing a gift, or sharing this message, can bring joy to a child who needs it most. Together, we can ensure that every child in Dominionville feels the true magic of the season. 🏠 A Room Full of Dignity: Transforming Lives at Daphne Lee Centre While one project brings festive cheer, another aims to bring lasting dignity . The Daphne Lee Centre for Adults with Disabilities  has long been a place of refuge, care, and comfort for individuals who are physically or mentally challenged. For over four decades, it has provided a homely environment that nurtures independence, social connection, and emotional well-being. However, time takes its toll, and many of the residents’ rooms no longer reflect the warmth and dignity they deserve. Recognising this need, Rotaract Klerksdorp  and community partners launched the “A Room Full of Dignity” renovation campaign . So far, all nine female residents’ rooms have been beautifully renovated , each transformed into a cozy and uplifting space. Now, the focus shifts to completing the five remaining male residents’ rooms , ensuring every individual has a place that feels like home. Why It Matters For the residents, these rooms are not just spaces, they are sanctuaries. A freshly painted wall, soft bedding, and thoughtful décor can drastically improve their quality of life and sense of self-worth. Beyond aesthetics, the upgrades help create a cleaner, safer, and more positive environment that supports mental and physical health. How You Can Contribute The renovation project depends on the kindness of the community. Whether through donations or hands-on support, every contribution brings the centre closer to its goal. 🎨 Donate Items: Paint (light grey, white undercoat, PVA white) Single mattresses, bedding, and curtains Mirrors, décor, tables, and chairs 🏡 Sponsor a Room: Fully fund a complete makeover, including furniture, décor, and wall finishes. 📍 Drop-off Points: DSIGN Studio: 85 Buffelsdoorn Rd, Wilkoppies, Klerksdorp Ronmar: 73 Platan Ave, Flamwood, Klerksdorp Daphne Lee Centre: 10 Irene Street, Irene Park, Klerksdorp 📞 Contact Information: Daphne Lee Centre: 018 462 4366 / admin@daphneleecentre.co.za Rotaract Klerksdorp: Ansja – 072 906 2520 / rotaract@rotaryklerksdorp.co.za DSIGN Studio: Dylan – 072 718 6485 Ronmar: 018 468 1111 Through collective effort, the community can transform not only rooms but lives, bringing light, dignity, and joy to residents who deserve the very best. 💛 A Season of Giving, A Legacy of Hope Both projects, Dominionville’s Community Christmas Party  and Daphne Lee Centre’s Room Renovation , embody the Rotaract spirit of service above self . They are reminders that change doesn’t always come in grand gestures; sometimes, it starts with a paintbrush, a toy, or a single act of generosity. In a world often clouded by challenges, these initiatives show that compassion still shines bright in Klerksdorp. Whether you give your time, resources, or skills, your contribution becomes part of something greater, a movement of empathy that strengthens the heart of the community. This December, let’s come together to spread joy, restore dignity, and celebrate humanity. #TheGoToGuy #RotaractKlerksdorp #CommunityDevelopment #ServiceAboveSelf #ChristmasForAll #DaphneLeeCentre #DominionvilleChristmas #KlerksdorpCares #PeopleOfAction #MakeADifference #GiveHope #RotaryFamily 🎁🌟💛🏠🎨🎄✨🤝

  • South African Motorists Enjoy Fuel Price Relief as Costs Drop Nationwide

Motorists across South Africa are already feeling some relief following the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) ’s recent announcement of a fuel price decrease, which came into effect on 5 November . The adjustment brings welcome savings for drivers, transport operators, and businesses, offering a break from months of fluctuating and often rising fuel costs. Image: The Go-To Guy Creations The Fuel Price Breakdown The DMRE confirmed the following reductions across fuel categories: Petrol 93 and 95:  Down by 51 cents per litre Diesel 0.05% sulphur:  Down by 21 cents per litre Diesel 0.005% sulphur:  Down by 19 cents per litre Paraffin:  Down by 1 cent per litre The cuts reflect a positive adjustment in South Africa’s monthly fuel pricing structure and have already begun easing the financial strain on both private motorists and commercial transporters. Drivers Behind the Decrease The fuel price reduction is largely the result of declining international petroleum product prices  and a firmer rand  during the review period. Together, these factors reduced the cost of importing fuel, creating room for domestic price adjustments. The trend aligns with a broader softening in global crude oil prices, following months of market uncertainty and supply challenges. Economic Ripple Effects This decrease is expected to bring short-term economic relief across several sectors. Lower transport and logistics costs may help curb inflationary pressures , stabilising prices on essential goods and services. Small businesses and public transport operators, who have been particularly impacted by high fuel costs, are also likely to benefit from reduced operational expenses. A Positive Shift for Consumers Although global oil markets remain volatile, the current reduction provides South Africans with some financial breathing space heading into the year’s final months. For many households and businesses, this drop signals a much-needed reprieve, and a reminder of how shifts in global energy trends directly shape local economic realities. #TheGoToGuy #FuelPriceDrop #SouthAfrica #DMRE #PetrolPrices #DieselPrices #EconomicRelief ⛽🚗💰🌍

  • South Africans Gear Up for the 2026/27 Local Elections: IEC Highlights Digital Momentum and Voter Growth

Renewed Energy in Democratic Participation The Electoral Commission (IEC) has shared encouraging progress on preparations for the upcoming 2026/27 Local Government Elections, highlighting an upswing in voter registrations and increased use of digital tools. The latest briefing in Pretoria revealed a growing enthusiasm for civic engagement, particularly among younger citizens who are taking advantage of online registration platforms. Tracking Voter Registration Trends Between January and September 2025, more than 300,000 first-time voters  joined the voters’ roll, showing a renewed national interest in local governance. The highest monthly spikes were recorded in September (71,324), August (50,714),  and February (39,967) . During the same period, over 60,000 registered voters  updated their details due to address or relocation changes. On average, around 33,912 new voters  were added monthly, while approximately 31,000 names  were removed due to confirmed deaths, ensuring the integrity of the national voters’ roll. Digital Tools Redefine the Registration Process Technology continues to reshape the democratic experience in South Africa. The IEC reported that 76% of all registrations  were processed through Voter Management Devices (VMDs) , 12% via the online portal , and 10% at local IEC offices . The Commission applauded the public’s embrace of digital registration methods, noting that online access has simplified the process for many citizens. This trend aligns with a broader national shift toward digital governance, making participation more accessible to younger and tech-savvy voters. Encouraging Active Citizenship In its message to the nation, the IEC reinforced the importance of voter participation, urging citizens to register, verify, and update  their details ahead of the polls. South Africans are encouraged to ensure their registration matches their current residential address, enabling them to vote in the correct ward. Registration can be completed online via the IEC website  or in person at municipal offices , reinforcing accessibility for all eligible voters. Building a Stronger Democratic Future The Commission’s latest update reflects a broader commitment to strengthening South Africa’s democratic foundation.
