We had the immense privilege of chatting with Tannie Peggy Haagner, who celebrated her 100th birthday on April 1st. Born and raised in Potch, Tannie Peggy is a true legend. April 1: Easter Prep at Canal Crossing If you visited Pick n Pay Canal Crossing on April 1st, you likely smelled it before you saw it,the heavenly scent of freshly baked Hot Cross Buns! From Easter eggs to the perfect cuts of meat for the long weekend braai, the spirit of the holiday was in full swing. April 9: All-in-One Fun at Snowflake To wrap up our Potch coverage, we visited the Snowflake building. It’s officially the ultimate "all-rounder" destination. Whether you’re hitting the Padel courts, testing your swing on the golf simulator, or grabbing a slice at Pizzamoré, Snowflake has mastered the art of the social hangout. March 27: JB Marks Market Day The energy at the Tourism Information Center was a perfect 10/10. Local SMMEs showed out in full force, showcasing everything from food to performing arts. And yes, the Reptile Experience was there for the brave souls who wanted to get up close with some snakes! March 28: Environmental Arts Festival The Kagiso Lerefolo Foundation hosted the 1st Annual Environmental Arts Festival at Chris Hani Community Hall. Schools like Seiphemelo Secondary, B.A Seobi, and Boitshoko High used drama, poetry, and storytelling to remind us of the importance of the three R's: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. March 30: Street Dance Culture The "After School Event" took over the basketball courts, reminding us why the Ikageng street dance scene is unmatched. The footwork and rhythm on display were a masterclass in local culture. April 3 – 6: The Cashibe World Cup Easter Tournament The Ikageng Stadium was the place to be this Easter weekend. The Cashibe World Cup brought the community together for a football spectacle. The Talent:   We saw incredible skill in the Under-15 and Under-17 Quarter-finals. The Legend:   We sat down with Lovious “Magents” Mohlokoane  for a tactical halftime breakdown during the clash between Rheinmetall Denel Munition FC and Sparks FC. The Vibes:   By the Semi-finals on April 5th, the stands were packed. Whether it was Tiki Taka  showing off their ball control or Marks of Excellence  waiting for the counter-attack, the "Diski" was top-tier. Final Thoughts These past two weeks have shown the true heart of our community.
