A Run With a Purpose The Hollard Daredevil Run isn’t your typical jog. It’s a tongue-in-cheek challenge with a serious message, to raise awareness around prostate and testicular cancer and to encourage men to take their health seriously. Funds raised through the event go directly to the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of South Africa. The money supports testing in under-resourced areas, as well as awareness, support, and ongoing research. The event has grown steadily each year, with past runs drawing crowds from schools, corporates, community groups and first-timers alike. This year, organisers hope to top those numbers and keep the conversation around men’s health moving, loudly and proudly. Don’t Feel Like Running? Not everyone’s up for a Speedo sprint, and that’s perfectly fine. Aardklop week kicked off in full swing, and as always, it was a sensory celebration of local art, talent, and innovation. Here’s who we met on our rounds through the vibrant festival stalls: The Vat Verniet Tafel   This beloved community initiative made its mark at Aardklop, sharing their mission of giving freely to those in need from clothing to essential items. Visitors were inspired by their message of kindness in action. (Their next big event takes place 25 October at Mooirivier Beskerming.) BlahBlahBlah   Luxury, scent, and self-care met artistry at this stall from handmade body lotion candles to diffusers and perfumes, everything was crafted with elegance and care. Hummusphere   The aroma of Mediterranean flavours drew crowds all day. Every dish at Hummusphere was a masterpiece of fresh ingredients and secret recipes , the perfect mix of health and heart. House of Nuts  If happiness had a crunch, this would be it! Their caramelised nuts were pure joy, sweet, crispy, and impossible to put down. The atmosphere at Ikageng Stadium was electric this past weekend as young football talent from across the region battled it out in the Ekasi Diski Challenge Under-17 Tournament, proudly sponsored by aQuelle. The tournament showcased thrilling football action, resilience, and sportsmanship, culminating in Empire Stars lifting the trophy after a dramatic final against Costa City. Group Stage Drama The tournament kicked off with fierce competition in both Stream A and Stream B.In Stream A, Costa City dominated early on with a 4–0 win over Junior Stars, while Empire Stars showed defensive strength, holding Prodigy to a goalless draw before progressing on penalties. Soccer Saints edged past La Masia, and Rising Stars overcame Vula Vala to secure their spots in the knockout rounds. Stream B delivered its own excitement. KMV defeated Jordan Stars 2–1, while Roshnuville Young Tigers claimed a narrow 2–1 victory over Promosa Young Stars. TTSA also impressed with a convincing 2–0 win over Brave 11. Quarterfinals and Semifinals The knockout stages raised the stakes, with each team fighting for survival.In Stream A’s quarterfinals, Costa City advanced past Soccer Saints on penalties after a 1–1 draw (4–3 on spot-kicks), while Empire Stars edged Rising Stars 2–1 in a tactical encounter.Over in Stream B, TTSA stunned KMV with a 1–0 victory, and Roshnuville Young Tigers triumphed 3–2 in a five-goal thriller against Boikhutsong Young Tigers.
