🏏 🏏 🏏 🏏 🏏 🏏 🏏 🏏 🏏 🏏 Pakistan sealed a 4-wicket win in the third T20 International against South Africa, claiming a 2–1 series victory in Rawalpindi on Friday. After a thrilling three-match battle, the home side held their nerve in the decider, chasing down the Proteas’ target with an over to spare. Image: Cricket South Africa For South Africa, it was a series filled with highs, learnings, and the emergence of fresh talent, and now, the focus shifts to a new challenge as they prepare to take on Pakistan in the ODI series starting this week. 📉 Batting Struggles Set the Tone The Proteas innings never quite found its rhythm in the decider. Losing early wickets in the powerplay, South Africa were 22/2 after 6 overs, and 56/4 by the 10-over mark. The middle order attempted to anchor the innings, but pressure from the Pakistan attack kept scoring opportunities limited. Despite efforts to rebuild, South Africa posted a below-par total that put extra pressure on the bowlers to defend. 🔥 Pakistan’s Chase: Steady and Strategic Pakistan responded with a measured and calculated approach. At 115/2 after 15 overs, they had laid the platform to chase down the target comfortably, requiring just 25 runs from the final 30 deliveries. The Proteas picked up a few wickets to keep things interesting in the closing stages, but the equation remained in Pakistan’s favour. The home team crossed the line with 4 wickets in hand, securing the series win and sending a strong message ahead of the ODI leg. 🧠 Proteas Take the Learnings into 50-Over Format With the T20I series wrapped, South Africa now look to regroup and reset ahead of the three-match ODI series . Several players showed promise in the shortest format, particularly in pressure situations, but team management will be looking for more consistency and composure in the longer white-ball format. • Snotkop to Light Up LiggieFees@Potch 2025

On 29 November 2025, the grounds of the Abraham Kriel Children’s Home, Potchefstroom will once again come alive for the annual LiggieFees@Potch, and leading the charge of high-voltage entertainment is South Africa’s very own Afrikaans pop-phenom Snotkop. Image ( Facebook): Snotkop Known off-stage as Francois Henning, this artist brings a slick blend of humour, rhythm and crowd-pleasing hits that promise to elevate the festival into a night to remember. A Brief Snapshot : Who is Snotkop Born on 22 December 1974 in Johannesburg, Francois Henning embarked on his musical journey at an early age, laying down demo tracks by age 15. His early career saw him adopt the stage name Lekgoa , singing kwaito styles in the late 1990s. In 2005, he re-invented himself as Snotkop, shifting into the Afrikaans pop/rap space and steadily building a catalogue of party anthems, chart-toppers and fun, energetic shows. With this background, Snotkop stands as more than just a performer, he represents a certain vibrancy in Afrikaans music culture, one that resonates strongly with fans of all ages. What His Performance at LiggieFees Means The LiggieFees festival is not just about lights and, it’s about community, festive atmosphere, and the joy of giving, raised for the benefit of vulnerable children at the children’s home. Bringing Snotkop to the 29 November slot ties in beautifully: his track record of crowd-engaging, foot-tapping songs will help turn the festival into a celebratory moment. For festival-goers in Potchefstroom and beyond, it means: A live show built to move: Expect popular hits and sing-along moments, strong rhythms and an energetic presence from Snotkop. A seamless match of music and setting: The festive lights, the food stalls, the family audience, all provide the perfect backdrop for a dynamic Afrikaans pop set under the stars. A chance to engage with the cause: While the lights dazzle, the performance helps spotlight the charitable mission behind the night, giving deeper meaning to the outing. What to expect from the show Snotkop’s performances typically blend slick production, audience interaction and a fun-first attitude. At LiggieFees you can expect: A setlist that spans his best-loved songs, with plenty of hooks and moments for the crowd to join in. High-energy band backing or DJ set-up, suitable for the outdoor, festive context. Visual complement: Since the festival emphasises light displays, the combination of stage lighting + surrounding installations should elevate the experience beyond a standard concert. A welcoming tone: Given the family‐friendly nature of LiggieFees, the performance will likely include broad appeal-songs that work for both younger festival-goers and longtime fans. • Under the December Sky with Appel at LiggieFees 2025

On 3 December 2025, festival-goers at LiggieFees@Potch in Potchefstroom are in for a treat as Appel (real name Christoph Kotzé) takes centre stage. With his rich catalogue of Afrikaans hits and songwriter credibility, he’s set to deliver a performance that adds depth and cultural resonance to this already vibrant seasonal celebration. Image (Facebook): Appel A Career Forged in Song Appel hails from Brits in the North West Province, and has built a dual reputation: one as a songwriter for top-tier Afrikaans artists, the other as a solo performer with his own voice. Before stepping into the spotlight himself, he crafted songs for legends such as Theuns Jordaan, Laurika Rauch and Bok Van Blerk. As a performing artist he has steadily gained recognition, with his album Patriot  among his standout releases. Why This Set at LiggieFees Matters LiggieFees is far more than a lights festival, it’s a community gathering, a festive experience, and an annual highlight for Potchefstroom families. By booking Appel for 3 December, the organisers have blended high-energy entertainment with the cultural gravitas of a songwriter-performer who speaks deeply to Afrikaans audiences. His performance promises to give the festival both musical heart and local relevance. For attendees, this means: A chance to see Appel’s live show in a beautiful outdoor setting, as the lights sparkle and the festive atmosphere builds. A performance likely brimming with melodic storytelling and intimate connection - qualities Appel is known for. A way to experience a contemporary Afrikaans music voice that bridges the songwriter legacy and the live-stage charisma. What to Expect from the Show Appel’s musical style leans into narratives, evocative melodies and a blend of modern and traditional Afrikaans themes. Songs like Heito Potato  (which already displays his playful yet sincere approach) show the range he brings.   At LiggieFees: Expect a setlist that combines sing-along moments with reflective lyrics, perfect for the warm December evening. Given the festival setting, the show may include moments of audience interaction and communal energy, especially as families and festival-goers share the experience. The lights and festive décor of the venue will add to the ambience, turning the performance into an immersive event rather than simply a concert. Why You Should Be There If you’re attending LiggieFees, making sure you’re present for Appel’s slot is wise. Whether you’re a longtime fan of Afrikaans music, someone looking for a live performance with emotional depth, or simply a family wanting a memorable evening out, Appel offers all of that. • Tamlyn Wessels Lights Up the Stage at LiggieFees@Potch on 5 December 2025

On the evening of 5 December 2025, the festive grounds of LiggieFees@Potch will welcome the rising Afrikaans-song talent Tamlyn Wessels for an unforgettable performance. This marks a special slot late in the festival, when lights, music and community spirits converge under the Potchefstroom sky. Image (Facebook) : Tamlyn Wessels A Story of Resilience and Song Tamlyn Wessels hails from Pretoria and her journey is one of remarkable resilience. In 2017, while still in Grade 7, she was struck by the rare autoimmune condition Guillain–Barré syndrome, which left her unable to move her eyelids and temporarily paralyzed. Rather than delay her musical dreams, Wessels turned this challenge into fuel, going on to build a songwriting and performing career under her own name. Her music catalogue includes tracks such as Klein Bietjie  (official music-video released 2024) and Lui Voete , showcasing her emotive voice and modern Afrikaans pop style. Her social media presence and recording releases suggest an artist in ascendancy, blending story, style and sincerity. Why This Performance Is a Festival Highlight LiggieFees is broadly recognised as a major community-and-charity event for Potchefstroom. With thousands of lights, festive food stalls and family-friendly entertainment, it offers a rich atmosphere of giving and celebration. When Tamlyn takes the stage at 5 December, she brings a distinctive voice to the line-up: younger, fresh, and grounded in resilience. Her presence not only gives the festival musical diversity but also connects with local audiences who appreciate Afrikaans music that speaks to real life, not just showmanship. For attendees this means: A unique live experience: Tamlyn’s recent singles and videos attest to her strong live potential, and the festival setting promises to deliver it under starry skies. A meaningful connection: knowing her back-story adds emotional weight to the performance - she isn’t just singing songs, she’s celebrating triumph. A late-festival highlight: placing her on the 5 December slot allows the festival to build momentum through the week and arrive at this evening with energy. What to Expect From Her Set Tamlyn’s style leans toward melodic Afrikaans pop with modern production and relatable themes: love, self-discovery, hope. Her track Klein Bietjie  explores the courage to take a chance,“kom ons wees ’n klein bietjie braaf”, and aligns well with the festival’s uplifting feel. At LiggieFees you can anticipate: Tunes calibrated for a mixed crowd, families, young adults and Afrikaans-music fans. A performance likely timed to complement the lights displays and evening ambiance, ideal for an outdoor open-air concert after sunset. An emphasis on interaction and atmosphere, rather than a purely large-stadium performance. In the festival’s community-centred context, the vibe will be friendly, inclusive and warm. Why You Should Be There If you plan to attend LiggieFees@Potch, Tamlyn Wessels’s performance on 5 December is a must-see. Not only will you enjoy live Afrikaans music in a beautiful setting, but you’ll witness a rising artist who embodies the spirit of the festival: resilience, community, celebration. Her set is likely to be memorable both for her voice and for what she stands for. Final Thoughts As the lights glow across the Abraham Kriel grounds and the festive air fills the night sky, Tamlyn Wessels will step into the spotlight for her LiggieFees performance. On 5 December 2025 the stage will become more than a platform, it will be a moment of triumph, for artist and audience alike. • JB Marks Municipality Maintains Steady Progress Despite Weather Challenges

The JB Marks Local Municipality has released its Daily Service Delivery Progress Report for 30 October 2025, highlighting continued operational progress across key departments despite disruptions caused by heavy rainfall. The report reflects the municipality’s adaptive response, infrastructure maintenance efforts, and ongoing commitment to service excellence. Image: JB Marks Municipality Roads and Infrastructure: Weather-Impacted but Prepared Operations under the Roads and Infrastructure Directorate were affected by adverse weather conditions, with pothole patching on Maphongo Street temporarily paused after preparatory work had been completed. Supervisors Gift Lebele and Bennett Masilo Isaka confirmed that the groundwork, including cutting and squaring of potholes, was finalised before rainfall began, ensuring readiness for rapid completion once conditions improve. Meanwhile, the Paving and Stormwater Management Team, supervised by Orlando Zandamela, used the weather disruption as an opportunity to identify blocked stormwater channels and catch pits. This proactive assessment is expected to prevent future flooding and strengthen overall drainage management. Water Services: Strong Recovery and System Optimisation Water Services teams, led by Supervisors Mpho Kometsi and Ntate Sebatana, achieved notable progress across multiple areas. Maintenance efforts included hydrant pressure management on Tswere Street, meter rebuilds at Gate View, and repairs to leaks and connection lines in various extensions. Reservoir levels showed significant recovery, with Vyfhoek reservoirs reaching 100% capacity, Ikageng West rebounding from empty to 81.82%, and Ventersdorp systems improving steadily between 67% and 75%. The Eesterandjies reservoirs, still under repair, remain the primary focus for continued restoration. These developments indicate a near-complete system recovery, with the municipality maintaining balanced water distribution and improved pressure stability across major supply points. Image: JB Marks Municipality Sanitation and Sewer Maintenance: Infrastructure Restored Sanitation teams under Acting Superintendents Ntate Motsamai and Kagiso Sebakeng addressed several sewer blockages, including manhole restorations in Matsitse and Dr James Moroka streets. A major infrastructure intervention between Hafiejie and Mohadin Stadium also advanced, with assessments confirming the need for re-piping to complete full restoration. This corridor serves multiple neighbourhoods, marking a key milestone in strengthening the municipality’s wastewater management system. Community and Waste Management: Excellence Maintained Under Supervisor Max Monyemore, Community Services teams completed extensive cleaning at the Ikageng Municipal Office Precinct, supported by the EPWP program and overseen by Director Ziphora Vavane. The initiative aligns with broader efforts to enhance municipal facilities and uphold a standard of operational cleanliness. In Waste Management, supervisors Sipho Nxamakele and Felicity Jansen reported 100% waste collection coverage across households, businesses, and hotspot areas, maintaining environmental health and service consistency despite the weather. Image: JB Marks Municipality Reservoir and System Health: Near-Full Recovery Achieved The report indicates a strong and balanced water system, with eight reservoirs stable or improving and only two under recovery. Ikageng West’s rapid refill and Vyfhoek’s consistent full capacity were identified as standout achievements. Technical teams continue to focus on refilling the 5ML Eesterandjies reservoir and restoring the 10ML unit currently under repair. Overall, the municipality reports an excellent recovery rate, crediting both technical precision and community cooperation in maintaining system resilience. Final Note While weather disruptions presented short-term challenges, the JB Marks Municipality continues to demonstrate operational resilience and coordinated service delivery across departments. Road repairs, water recovery, sanitation maintenance, and waste collection all reflect steady progress driven by adaptability and teamwork. The latest update shows a municipality navigating adverse conditions while sustaining momentum toward stability and long-term infrastructure improvement. #TheGoToGuy #JBMarksMunicipality #ServiceDeliveryUpdate #InfrastructureMaintenance #WaterRecovery #CommunityExcellence 🏗️🚰🛣️🧹💪

And true to its name, it was a day filled with energy, laughter, and plenty of fun! This year’s Fun Run saw approximately 800 participants take to the streets and race along the famous Oak Avenue to raise funds for its preservation. The crowd truly pulled out all the stops, showing off their spirit in fantastic costumes - from a beekeeper with his buzzing bees and wacky witches to an entire “pooch family.”  Abraham Kriel Children’s Home sent some of their brave little soldiers who stood out in blue tutus, while learners from Potchefstroom Central cheered each other on. It was a day for the whole family, and the camaraderie among participants brought warmth to an otherwise cold morning. The community rallied behind the initiative, with all proceeds going toward the preservation of the iconic oak trees that have become symbolic of Potchefstroom. The route stretched from the park, across Die Akker Koffiehuis, to Potchefstroom Dam and back. Determination was the name of the game - from those chasing personal bests to those collecting the most sweets along the way, everyone had a goal in mind.  The organisers were astonished when the first runners crossed the finish line in under 30 minutes, sending a clear message: these participants meant business. Dogs of all shapes and sizes accompanied their owners, tails wagging with excitement, while many mothers pushed strollers through the 5km route - truly an inspiring sight. Some participants took the competition seriously, while others simply enjoyed a leisurely walk with their families on a crisp Saturday morning. A huge thank you goes to Platō Coffee and Potch Centraal Pet Vet for sponsoring the amazing goodie bags! Our prize winners walked away with wonderful spoils thanks to you. Agora Coffee kept everyone warm and caffeinated, and the Bubble Tea stall was another crowd favourite. Finally, thank you to all the key role players who made this event possible: Potchefstroom Eikeboomlaning, Potchefstroom Central School, and The Go-To Guy. Oaktober 2025 was a resounding success and we’re already looking forward to next year! Until then, keep on running for the oaks. Nou kom ons by die ‘nitty gritty’. Ikageng’s Dynamic Duo Set to Shine at the Kasi Flair Tournament Ikageng’s gaming brothers, Onkgopotse and Omphile Mogapi, better known as the Bro Gamers, are stepping into the spotlight as they prepare to make their debut at the Kasi Flair Tournament. The pair will be representing the vibrant gaming community of Ikageng and showcasing their skills in what promises to be a thrilling esports event. What began as a simple pastime has transformed into a competitive passion for the Mogapi brothers. Known for their teamwork and precision in football gaming titles, they’ve built a reputation in the local scene for their tactical play and brotherly synergy. The Kasi Flair Tournament marks their first major appearance, where they’ll test their abilities against seasoned players from across the region. For Onkgopotse and Omphile, this is more than just a tournament. It’s a chance to carry their hometown’s name into the esports arena and inspire other young gamers in Ikageng. “We’ve worked hard for this, and now it’s time to represent where we come from,” said Omphile. The brothers’ participation symbolises the growing recognition of gaming talent within local communities, proving that with dedication and support, township players can rise to compete at any level. As the Kasi Flair Tournament continues to spotlight grassroots gaming talent, events like the Mohlakeng Giants Qualifier are redefining what’s possible for aspiring esports athletes. With the Bro Gamers leading Ikageng’s charge, the future of township gaming looks brighter than ever. 4th Annual Waste Fashion Show 2025: Sustainability Meets Style The Small Five Environmental and Tourism Organisation hosted its 4th Annual Waste Fashion Show at Sarafina Hall, celebrating the fusion of creativity, sustainability, and environmental awareness. StroomCares Community Support Shines at Potchefstroom’s Vat Verniet Tafel The Potchefstroom community came together in a strong show of unity and compassion on  25 October  during the latest Vat Verniet Tafel event held at Mooirivier Beskerming. The outreach initiative once again provided an opportunity for residents in need to receive essential items such as clothing, groceries, and household goods free of charge. Long rows of donated clothing and food supplies filled the area as volunteers assisted visitors in selecting what they required.  The event was supported by several local businesses, organisations, and volunteers. Among the contributors were teams from the Century 21 Potchefstroom Student Hub. According to organisers, the initiative aimed to ease the burden on struggling households and strengthen community bonds ahead of the festive season. The event drew a steady turnout of residents, with donations ensuring that every attendee could take home items of value.  The Vat Verniet Tafel continues to serve as one of Potchefstroom’s key community outreach initiatives, bringing together local residents, organisations, and volunteers under a shared commitment to upliftment.  Through these collaborative efforts, hundreds of individuals benefit from practical support, demonstrating how community partnerships remain central to addressing social needs across the region. Protect, Prevent, and Provide Hope: Paws Haven’s Ongoing Mission The Paws Haven Animal Shelter has issued a heartfelt community reminder on the importance of microchipping and sterilisation. Volunteers at Paws Haven regularly rescue lost and frightened animals, many without identification, making reunions difficult. Microchipping ensures that a pet can be traced back to its owner instantly if found.  Paws Haven stresses that the small microchipping fee supports both the chip and the shelter’s rescue efforts. As the organisation receives no government funding, it relies entirely on community donations to continue saving lives. The shelter also urges pet owners to spay and neuter their animals to combat the growing stray population. Sterilisation is one of the most effective ways to prevent suffering. It helps control overpopulation, reduces disease, and improves overall animal wellbeing. Paws Haven expressed deep gratitude to donors such as Monia and her students, Nikki, Florny, and Estelle, whose food and financial contributions directly support daily operations. Every donation helps keep the shelter running and the animals safe. The public is encouraged to: Microchip and update registrations for all pets. Sterilise to stop unwanted litters. Adopt, foster, or donate to support local shelters. With community compassion, Paws Haven continues to live by its motto: “Giving Hope, One Paw at a Time.” Potch se Diere Finding Forever Homes: Meet Paws Haven’s Adorable Adoptables This week at Paws Haven has been filled with heartwarming moments and reminders of what community kindness can achieve. Dressed smartly in their school uniforms one last time, the girls gathered to celebrate their journey, a journey filled with late nights, laughter, hard work, and countless memories that will stay with them forever. The ceremony opened with messages of encouragement from teachers and school leaders, reminding the learners that the end of high school is not the end of learning, but rather the start of new beginnings. Each speaker shared words of wisdom, urging the Matrics to carry the values of respect, perseverance, and excellence with them as they step into the next chapter of their lives. Amid the emotions and smiles, the girls received their signature leather roses, a long-standing Girls High tradition symbolising strength, resilience, and beauty. The sight of rows of proud learners holding their roses was a moment that spoke volumes about unity and growth.  No Valedictory Service at Girls High would be complete without the ringing of the school bell, a symbolic act that marks the official end of each Matric’s school journey. As the bell echoed through the hall, a wave of emotion swept through the crowd. It was a moment that captured the heart of the occasion, the bittersweet mix of endings and new beginnings. Parents, teachers, and fellow learners applauded as the Class of 2025 walked out with smiles, tears, and a sense of pride that words can hardly describe. With final exams now on the horizon, the school community extends its best wishes to the Class of 2025. Their dedication and spirit have already made Girls High proud, and there’s no doubt that their futures shine brightly. Good luck, Matrics, go out there and make your mark!
