  • Shining Bright in Potchefstroom: Why Clean Solar Panels Matter for Homes and Businesses

Potchefstroom and the broader North West province of South Africa enjoy abundant sunshine throughout the year . This sunny climate makes solar power popular for both homes and businesses. Image : The Go-To Guy Creations However, the region’s dry, dusty seasons, especially in winter when rain is scarce, can leave solar panels coated with dirt and grime. Cleaning those panels isn’t just about appearances; it’s crucial for maintaining performance and maximizing your return on a solar investment.   A technician cleans a solar panel array, removing dust and debris to maintain peak performance.   Keeping solar panels clean ensures they can absorb as much sunlight as possible, which means more electricity for your property. Dust, pollen, and bird droppings create a film that blocks sunlight, reducing the panels’ efficiency. In fact, studies have found that accumulated dust can cut solar output by up to 20%, and some experts report losses as high as 25% or more in very dirty conditions g. That kind of power drop translates to higher bills and a slower return on investment, whether you’re running a large commercial array or a few panels on your home. Beyond immediate energy loss, cleaning also protects your solar investment for the long run. Dirt and debris left to sit can lead to corrosive buildup or scratches on the panel surface. Regular cleaning prevents these issues, helping extend the lifespan of your panels and keeping you in compliance with warranty requirements (many manufacturers expect periodic cleaning). Image : The Go-To Guy Creations How Often Should Solar Panels Be Cleaned? Experts generally recommend cleaning solar panels at least once or twice a year . In many cases, a good washing every six months will keep your panels operating at peak efficiency. The ideal schedule depends on local conditions: in a rainy climate, occasional showers might rinse off dust so annual cleaning could suffice . But in a dry, dust-prone area like Potchefstroom, a biannual cleaning (for example, each spring and autumn) is often best . This clears any dirt built up over the dry winter and after the windy late-winter period, so you head into the sunnier months with panels that can perform optimally. Of course, if you notice a significant drop in your system’s output or see visible grime, it’s wise to clean sooner rather than waiting for the next scheduled date . Safety Precautions for Solar Panel Cleaning Cleaning solar panels is straightforward, but remember these safety precautions: Shut off the system:  Always turn off your solar power system before cleaning. This protects you from shocks and prevents any electrical damage while you work . Use soft tools:  Clean with a soft sponge, cloth, or brush. Avoid abrasive pads or harsh scrubbers that could scratch the glass surface , scratches will hurt efficiency more than the dirt does. Stick to mild soap and water:  A garden hose and a bit of ordinary dish soap are usually all you need to wash panels . Don’t use strong chemicals like bleach (they can damage coatings), and never  use a high-pressure spray which could crack the glass or dislodge panel seals . Clean during cool hours:  Tackle cleaning in the early morning or late afternoon when the panels are cooler. If the sun is hot, use lukewarm water (not cold) to avoid thermal shock to the glass . Watch your footing:  If panels are on a roof, use a sturdy ladder and consider a safety harness. Wear shoes with good grip, since the roof can be slippery when wet and of course, never walk on the panels themselves. Know when to call a pro:  If you’re uncomfortable with heights or have many panels to clean, hiring a professional is the safest option. Falls and injuries are a serious risk, so let trained technicians with proper gear handle those tricky jobs . Image : The Go-To Guy Creations Benefits of Using a Local Professional Service Many Potchefstroom residents and businesses opt to let a professional handle solar panel cleaning and there are good reasons why. First is the quality of the clean: professionals have the know-how to remove stubborn grime without scratching panels or causing any damage. For example, Imperial Specialist Cleaning Services, a Potchefstroom-based company, uses specialized tools and gentle techniques to wash panels thoroughly and safely, restoring their optimal performance . You also avoid putting yourself at risk. A trained crew comes equipped with safety gear for working on roofs and can get the job done more efficiently .Another advantage of hiring a local expert is their familiarity with the environment. A company like Imperial Specialist Cleaning Services understands Potchefstroom’s dust and weather patterns and the common cleaning challenges that come with them . Because they’re based nearby, it’s easy to schedule prompt service, you’re not waiting for a team from out of town. Convenience is key as well: one professional crew can often handle multiple tasks in a single visit. Imperial, for instance, offers solar panel cleaning alongside window and carpet cleaning for both homes and businesses . Having one trusted provider take care of all these cleaning needs at once saves you time and hassle, while ensuring consistent high quality results. In summary, keeping your solar panels clean is a simple step that yields big benefits. You’ll enjoy higher energy output, a longer panel lifespan, and greater savings, all particularly important in a sunny place like Potchefstroom. And by enlisting local professionals when needed, you can make the process safe and easy. With regular upkeep, your solar investment will continue to shine brightly, powering your home or business efficiently under the South African sun. Support Your Local Business

  • 5 Signs Your Piping System Needs Replacement – And How Flo-Tek Can Help

💧🚿💖💧🚿💖💧🚿💖💧🚿💖💧🚿💖 Keeping the water flowing in our homes and businesses is something we usually take for granted. That is, until a pipe bursts on a Sunday afternoon! Whether you’re a homeowner in Potch or a small contractor in the community, it pays to know when your piping system is on its last legs. Ignoring warning signs can lead to bigger problems (and bigger expenses) down the line. Below, we’ll chat about five red flags that signal your pipes might need replacing, how local experts like Flo-Tek North West can help, and some installation tips to ensure any new underground pipes give you long-term  peace of mind. Let’s dive in! Image: The Go-To Guy Creations 🚩 Warning Signs: When Your Pipes May Need Replacing Frequent Leaks and Repairs  💧 If you’re constantly grabbing a mop or calling the plumber, take note. One leak might be a fluke, but frequent leaks or pipe bursts are a major red flag. Older or damaged pipes tend to develop cracks and pinhole leaks over time. You might notice water stains on walls or ceilings, damp spots, moldy smells, or mildew popping up, all signs of hidden leaks. Instead of patching pipe #27 for the tenth time, it may be more cost-effective (and safer) to consider a full replacement . After all, those little leaks not only damage your property and waste precious water, but can also drive up your water bill. Rusty or Discolored Water  🚰 Turn on the tap and see brown, reddish, or yellow water? That’s not  normal, and it’s often a sign your pipes are corroding from the inside. Rust from old iron or steel pipes can leach into the water, giving it that unsightly color . You might also notice a metallic taste or an odd smell in the water. Aside from being unappetizing (who wants to drink rusty water?), this is a clue that your pipes are breaking down. Discolored water can stain your sinks and tubs and even indicate the presence of sediments or corrosion that will only get worse. In short, brown water = big warning sign that it’s time to check those pipes. Low Water Pressure or Trickling Flow  🚿 If your once-powerful shower has dwindled to a sad drizzle, your plumbing might be trying to tell you something. A sudden or gradual drop in water pressure, whether at a single tap or throughout the house, can mean pipes are clogged with scale or rust internally . As old metal pipes corrode, the buildup narrows the pipe’s diameter, choking off the water flow. There are other possible causes (like municipal supply issues or a partially closed valve), but if neighbors have good pressure and you don’t, the culprit could be your aging pipes. Don’t ignore the slow flow, it’ll likely only get worse over time, and you deserve a nice strong shower! 🚿👍 Sewer Odors or Soggy Patches in the Yard  🤢 Not all piping problems show up in your taps, some appear (or smell ) outside. If you catch a whiff of rotten egg or sewage smell around your property, it could mean a cracked sewer or drain pipe is allowing gases to escape . That’s not just stinky but also potentially hazardous to your health. Likewise, an unexpected lush, wet patch or sunken area on your lawn (that isn’t due to rain or watering) could be caused by an underground pipe leak . Leaking water or sewage under the soil can turn a particular spot of grass strangely green and marshy (or cause the ground to sag). If you notice bad odors, gurgling drains, or mysterious wet spots outside, it’s probably time to inspect your underground pipes before the issue worsens. Age and Outdated Pipe Materials  🏚️ Sometimes the biggest clue is simply the age of your plumbing. Here in Potchefstroom, many older homes (think decades old) still rely on galvanized steel or cast iron pipes. The bad news? Those materials corrode and degrade much faster than modern ones . Galvanized steel pipes, for example, can start rusting from the inside out, eventually causing leaks and discolored water as mentioned above. If your home’s plumbing is 40, 50, or 70 years old, it may be living on borrowed time. (Copper and PVC pipes last much longer, so newer homes are usually in the clear.) And if your house is very  old, early 20th-century old, there’s a chance the pipes could even contain lead, especially in service lines or old solder joints. Lead-lined pipes were used in the past and can leach lead into your drinking water , posing a serious health risk. 😱 If you suspect your piping is antique or made of outdated materials, don’t wait for a catastrophe. This is a case where proactively re-piping will save you a lot of heartache (and money) in the long run. Flo-Tek North West: Your Local Partner in Proactive Solutions Not sure what to do if some of these signs hit home? Don’t panic, Potchefstroom has a piping ally in Flo-Tek North West. Image: Flo-Tek North West Their philosophy is all about fixing problems before  they become disasters, as any plumber will tell you, pipe problems only get worse the longer you ignore them . Flo-Tek North West can guide you on the best replacement options and provide the right materials to solve issues proactively. In short, they’re not just selling you pipes, they’re invested in keeping our community’s water systems running smoothly. 🙌 Now that you know what warning signs to watch for and who can help, let’s talk about how  to replace or install new pipes the right way. Swapping out old plumbing isn’t just about buying new pipes and shoving them in the ground, proper installation is key to making sure your investment lasts for many years (with minimal headaches). Here are some handy installation tips, straight from the experts, to ensure long-term performance in your underground piping systems. 🛠️ Installation Tips for Long-Term Performance Choose Quality Materials  🏆 All pipes are not created equal. Using high-quality, appropriate materials can prevent a lot of problems down the road. In fact, picking the right pipe type (and fittings) for the job is crucial for durability and efficiency . For example, PVC or HDPE plastic pipes are popular for water and sewer lines these days because they don’t rust and have a long lifespan. Make sure any new pipes or fittings you buy meet industry standards and have SABS/SANS approvals for use in South Africa. It might be tempting to save a few rand by buying cheaper, unbranded pipes, but those could brittle or fail sooner. Investing in proven, high-quality piping now means you won’t be wrestling with leaks again a couple of years later . (Bonus: Flo-Tek’s products fall in this category, they’re built to last, which is one reason they’re trusted in industries from mining to agriculture .) Dig Proper Trenches  🕳️ “Measure twice, dig once,” as the saying goes. When installing underground pipes, take time to plan and dig your trench correctly. It should be wide enough to work in and lay the pipe without stress, but not excessively wide  (you don’t want to disturb more soil than necessary). Join longer pipe sections before lowering them into the trench when possible, this can help maintain a narrower trench and is just easier to handle. Crucially, check the trench for any large rocks or hard debris; either remove them or place a cushion of soil/sand over them so they won’t press against the pipe . Depth matters too: pipes need to be buried deep enough to be safe. A common guideline is at least about 30 cm below the ground (or below the frost line in colder areas) so that casual digging or temperature changes won’t reach them . If the pipe will run under a driveway or any place with heavy vehicles driving over, go even deeper, typically 60–90 cm burial depth is recommended to handle that weight . By digging the trench to the right specs, you set your new pipe up for a long, trouble-free life. Seal Joints Securely  🔗 The weakest points in any piping system are the joints, so give them extra attention. Always use the proper joining method for the type of pipe you have. For PVC pipes, that might mean a solvent cement (glue), be sure to apply primer and glue as instructed. Other piping (or larger diameter PVC) may use rubber ring (gasket) joints. These are great for underground pipes because they provide a watertight seal and even allow a little flex if the ground shifts . Flo-Tek’s underground PVC pipes, for instance, use locked-in rubber sealing rings that resist chemicals and prevent leaks . The key is: make all connections snug and secure. If a joint is loose or improperly sealed, that’s a leak waiting to happen. So tighten those couplings, align your pipes correctly, and double-check that every gasket is sitting right. A well-sealed joint means you won’t have to dig everything up again to fix a preventable leak later! Bedding and Backfill Matter  🏗️ This is a step that DIYers sometimes overlook, but it’s critical for long-term performance. Don’t just toss a pipe in a trench and shovel back the dirt. First, lay your pipe on a stable, supportive bed. Ideally use sand or fine soil and build a cushion at the bottom of the trench (about 10 cm thick is often recommended) before the pipe goes in . This bedding material pads the pipe and makes sure it lies evenly, without rocks directly underneath. Once the pipe is in place, fill in around the sides of the pipe (the “side fill”) with that soft material and pack it gently to give the pipe support all around. This prevents the pipe from shifting or bending when the weight of soil above (or vehicles above) comes into play . Finally, backfill the trench in layers, tamping down each layer lightly as you go. Avoid dumping big clods or heavy rocks right onto the pipe, that can crack or damage it. Proper bedding and backfill will distribute loads and protect your pipe for the long haul, so it won’t collapse or deform under pressure . It’s a bit of extra work now, but it saves you from a repair job later. Follow Standards & Get Help if Needed  📞 Installing underground piping isn’t rocket science, but it does require care and adherence to guidelines. Make sure to follow any relevant plumbing standards or local building codes for your project, these rules exist to ensure safety and longevity . For example, standards will tell you the proper slope for sewer lines, how to lay pipes in unstable soils, etc. If you’re not sure about the regulations, check with the municipality or consult resources from reputable organizations (like SANS in South Africa, or ASTM guidelines mentioned in international resources ). And here’s a pro tip: don’t be shy about calling in the experts. If you feel out of your depth at any point, reach out to a professional plumber. A seasoned plumber can inspect your piping plans, do proper pressure testing of new lines, and ensure everything is hooked up correctly . Even just getting advice can be invaluable. You can also talk to the team at Flo-Tek North West, they know their products and local conditions, so they can guide you on the best solutions for your specific needs. Remember, it’s far better to ask for help than to have to redo an entire job because something was missed. ✅ Taking care of your plumbing is an investment in your property and your peace of mind. By keeping an eye out for the warning signs of trouble and acting quickly, you can avoid disasters like burst pipes or water damage. And by using the right materials and techniques when installing new pipes, you’ll ensure long-term performance, meaning you won’t have to worry about those pipes again for a long, long time. The Potchefstroom community has a strong resource in Flo-Tek North West for both quality products and expert advice, so you’re never alone in tackling a piping problem. Despite generous donations, PAWS is seeing the bottom of those food bins again. Dry food, canned food, anything that will keep those tails wagging and those paws padding around with happy bellies. How You Can Help Here’s the pitch, simple and straight: Got a spare bag of dry food? A few cans of meaty goodness? A spare moment to drop them off? Pop in at 2 Viljoen Street in Potchefstroom. Every little bit helps to keep bowls full and hearts happy. Monetary Donations If you’d rather skip the pet food aisle, there’s also the option of flicking a few bucks their way: NEDBANK Account: 1120 7585 21 Reference: FOOD Questions? Give Them a Bell! • High-Flying Adventures in Potchefstroom: Skydiving, Gliding and More

Potchefstroom isn’t just a university town, it’s also a hidden gem for aerial adventure. With over 300 days of sunshine annually, the region offers near-perfect flying weather t . Whether you’re a thrill-seeking tourist or a local looking for a new perspective, Potchefstroom’s “Fly and Sky” experiences let you soar, float, and free-fall above the beautiful North West Province. From silent glider flights over patchwork farmlands to heart-pounding skydives and serene hot air balloon rides, here’s a comprehensive look at Potch’s aerial adventures (with real local names and details) that will leave you on cloud nine. Image: The Go-To Guy Creation Soaring on Silent Wings: Gliding in Potchefstroom One of Potchefstroom’s proudest claims to fame is its gliding scene. The city is home to Akavlieg Potch Gliding, a club based at the Potchefstroom Airfield that welcomes everyone from curious first-timers to seasoned pilots . Gliding, flying sailplanes with no engine, riding only thermals and wind, offers a uniquely graceful way to experience the sky. Potchefstroom’s flat terrain and warm climate create excellent thermal updrafts, making it a prime gliding location. In fact, Potch regularly hosts South Africa’s national gliding championships, and Akavlieg Potchefstroom’s facilities are top-notch. The club maintains a large clubhouse (complete with a kitchen, bar, pool, and briefing rooms) and hangars filled with private gliders . On many sunny weekends, you’ll see sleek white gliders being towed up into the blue, then circling higher and higher as they catch thermals. Jonker Sailplanes, a name known to glider enthusiasts worldwide, is based right here in Potchefstroom. Founded in 2004 by local brothers Attie and Uys Jonker, this company designs and builds some of the world’s most advanced sailplanes . In fact, the Jonker factory at Potchefstroom Airfield has produced award-winning gliders like the JS-3 “Rapture,” helping put Potch on the global aviation map. These high-performance gliders,“internationally recognised” for their quality, are built on-site at the airfield . For visitors, Jonker Sailplanes isn’t an amusement ride, but it’s a point of pride and an attraction for aviation buffs; you might arrange a tour or at least see the gleaming gliders up close. And if you’d like to experience gliding yourself, Akavlieg Potch Gliding offers training courses and often lets newcomers book an introductory trial flight with a certified instructor. There’s nothing like sitting in a two-seater glider’s front cockpit, feeling the plane get hauled into the air, then suddenly hearing only the wind as you detach from the tow plane and start soaring freely. It’s equal parts tranquil and thrilling, and it truly lets you “dance with the clouds” above Potchefstroom’s fields . Pilot for a Day: Flying Clubs and Flight Schools Perhaps you’ve dreamt of piloting an aircraft yourself. In Potchefstroom, that dream can take off thanks to local flying academies and clubs. The Potch Flight Academy, for example, is a well-established aviation school located at the Potchefstroom Airfield’s Terminal Building. Part of the Bucephalus Air group, it was founded in 2017 and built upon the legacy of a previous flight school (Mariannair). Today, Potch Flight Academy and its partner schools offer professional training for everyone from hobbyist pilots to those pursuing commercial licenses. Students train under experienced instructors and log hours in small aircraft like Cessna or Sling models. With Potchefstroom’s excellent weather (few rain disruptions and generally clear skies), trainees get consistent flying days to practice . Even if you’re not aiming for a career in aviation, the flying school welcomes enthusiasts for introductory flights. Under the guidance of an instructor, you can take off in a light plane and even handle the controls once airborne. Imagine the thrill of gently banking the aircraft while looking down on the Mooi River and Potch’s iconic landmarks from above! It’s both an adventure and a hands-on lesson in flight. Another local outfit, Aviatech FAPS Flight Academy, also operates at the airfield (FAPS is the airfield’s code) and similarly offers pilot training with modern simulators and aircraft. Between these schools, Potchefstroom has become a hub for cultivating new pilots, benefiting from the wide open airspace and lack of heavy air traffic. The camaraderie is strong too, there’s an informal Potchefstroom flying club community where licensed pilots and students socialize, share tips, and often organize weekend breakfast fly-outs to small airstrips in the region. In short, if you want to fly a plane or earn your wings, Potchefstroom is an inviting place to do it. Leap of Faith: Skydiving Over Potch For adrenaline junkies, skydiving is the ultimate sky-high rush, and you don’t have to go far to try it. While Potchefstroom doesn’t have a permanent year-round drop zone, local adventure organizers have brought skydiving to town through special events. One notable event was “Skyfly Potch”, a weekend of tandem skydives held right in Potchefstroom . During Skyfly Potch (hosted in late March 2023), experienced instructors and skydivemasters, including locals Bernard  and Chris , took participants up in a plane and then leaped out over the city for a tandem free-fall experience. “See Potch from the best angle,” the promo teased , and it delivered: those brave enough to jump got a breathtaking bird’s-eye view of the patchwork farmlands, the university campus, and even the winding Vaal River on the horizon as they plunged earthward. Attached securely to a pro, first-timers could enjoy the 30–40 second free fall and the serene parachute glide afterward, landing safely back at the airfield. Packages started around R2,500, a worthy price for a life-changing thrill. If you miss the dates of a Potch skydiving event, don’t worry, the renowned Skydive Parys drop zone is just a short drive away (about 45 minutes from Potchefstroom). Skydive Parys operates regularly at the Parys Airfield near the Vredefort Dome and offers tandem jumps with stunning views of the Vaal River and the ancient meteorite crater landscape . Many Potchefstroom locals make the trip for a weekend jump. There’s nothing quite like the adrenaline surge of stepping out of a plane at ~10,000 feet. The roar of the wind, the distant patchwork of earth below, and then the parachute opening, bringing a sudden quiet as you gently float down, it’s an experience that words barely capture. Whether in Potchefstroom during a special event like Skyfly Potch or at the nearby Parys drop zone, skydiving in the Potch area promises an unforgettable leap of faith. Up, Up and Away: Hot Air Ballooning Safaris For a more tranquil sky adventure, hot air ballooning offers a magical way to soak in the scenery. While there isn’t a balloon operator based in downtown Potchefstroom itself, the area is served by balloon companies that launch from the nearby Vredefort Dome and Vaal River region, essentially on Potch’s doorstep. One highly recommended experience is a sunrise balloon flight over the Vredefort Dome World Heritage Site, just south of Potchefstroom . Companies like Hot Air Ballooning SA  and local lodges (for example, SunWa River Lodge near Parys) organize these flights, taking advantage of the region’s calm early mornings. SunWa River Lodge, only 10 km outside Parys (which itself is about 50 km from Potch), actually offers hot air balloon rides as one of its highlight activities. In the pre-dawn darkness, you’ll gather at the launch site, often a wide open field by the Vaal River, and watch as the balloon’s envelope puffs up with bright flame. Then you clamber into the wicker basket, the burner blasts heat, and suddenly you’re aloft, drifting wherever the breeze takes you. As the sun peeks over the horizon, the views are breathtaking: the Vaal River glinting below, misty farmlands, and the ancient hills of the Vredefort Dome crater all around. You might even spot wildlife, on some flights, lucky passengers have spotted antelope or giraffes moving below. Ballooning is gentle and quiet (aside from the occasional burner whoosh), making it perfect for couples and families. After ~45 minutes to an hour in the sky, you’ll land (often in a farmer’s field), and tradition dictates a toast of champagne or juice to celebrate the flight. The experience is often described as otherworldly , floating in tranquility with a 360-degree panorama. For Potchefstroom residents and visitors, booking a hot air balloon safari over the Dome is a must-do for those seeking romance, photography opportunities, or just a serene adventure aloft. It’s an extraordinary way to appreciate the natural beauty surrounding Potch from a high vantage point Dome at dawn, with the meandering Vaal River visible below. Other Aerial Thrills: Paragliding and Microlights While Potchefstroom’s immediate landscape is mostly flat, more aerial thrills await just beyond the city. Paragliding, for instance, isn’t done in-town (due to the lack of mountains), but the Magaliesberg mountains in the North West Province offer popular paragliding sites within a couple of hours’ drive. Head out toward Hartbeespoort Dam or Rustenburg, and you’ll find launch points like Skeerpoort  or Kombegas  on the Magalies ridges . There, with a certified tandem instructor, you can run off a hillside and catch thermals in a paraglider, sailing the skies like a bird while enjoying views of the Hartbeespoort valley. Some local adventure operators in Potchefstroom occasionally organize group outings to these paragliding spots, so if you’re keen, ask around at the Potch airfield or tourism info centers for any upcoming trips. Another niche hobby gaining traction is microlight and ultralight flights. Potchefstroom Airfield sees enthusiasts flying microlight trikes  (those delta-wing motorized hang-gliders) especially in summer. A few local pilots are happy to take passengers up for a breezy open-air flight over the town. Imagine sitting in a two-seat microlight at dawn, the wind in your face as you buzz low and slow above golden maize fields and the Mooi River, it’s an accessible thrill and offers fantastic photography opportunities. Microlight flights can often be arranged informally through the flying club or flight school contacts. Similarly, gyroplane flips (in tiny helicopter-like gyrocopters) have been featured at recent Potchefstroom airshows , and some pilots offer rides. These alternative aerial activities are perfect for adventure collectors looking to try every way to fly. Embracing Potchefstroom’s Skies In Potchefstroom, the sky isn’t the limit, it’s the playground. Few small cities can boast such a diverse array of flight experiences: you can glide silently on thermals in a world-class sailplane, learn to pilot a Cessna, free-fall from 10,000 ft strapped to a pro, or float over game reserves in a balloon. These activities not only deliver thrills and unforgettable views, but also highlight Potchefstroom’s growing reputation as an aviation and adventure hub in South Africa. The strategic goal for the city is clear, by promoting these aerial experiences, Potchefstroom is elevating its profile for tourism and positioning itself as a destination where innovation meets adrenaline. Each experience, be it through the authority of an accredited flight school or the grassroots passion of a gliding club, adds to Potch’s appeal and community engagement. So whether you’re a local Potch student looking for a weekend escape or a traveler seeking something beyond the ordinary, give one of these “Fly and Sky” adventures a try. You’ll gain a new appreciation for the landscape and a heck of a story to tell. In the process, you’ll also be supporting local clubs and businesses, from Akavlieg’s volunteer-run gliding club to balloon operators and flight instructors who call Potchefstroom home. With safety as a top priority and certified professionals guiding every experience (from licensed balloon pilots to accredited jumpmasters), you can embark on these adventures with confidence. Potchefstroom’s big sky is calling, time to spread your wings in the Friendly City and see the world from above. It’s an experience that, quite literally, will lift your spirits!
