- Round Table 47 Potchefstroom Serves Up a Proper Chicken Braai - 18 October
Braai, Banter, and a Bit of Donkey Kong Round Table Potchefstroom 47 is firing up the coals for its much-loved Chicken Braai on Saturday, 18 October 2025, at the Round Table Clubhouse, 1 Piet Bosman Street, right next to the Potch Rugby Club. For just R100, locals can tuck into a hearty quarter chicken, bun, and salad, your choice between mixed or potato. Gates open at 11:00, and it’s set to run “till late”, which in Potch terms usually means well into the night once the last coals finally give in. Something for Everyone It’s not just about the food, though that’s reason enough to pull in. The day is packed with family-friendly activities and a few only-in-South-Africa twists. Kids can bounce their hearts out on the jumping castle, while the rugby fans catch the game. The bar promises student prices, keeping everyone’s wallet, and mood, in good shape. And if you fancy a laugh, there’s the Chicken Run (where you literally have to catch a chicken) and Donkey Kong, a cheeky guessing game involving a donkey, some business, and a prize if your prediction’s right. Give a Bit, Get a Bit In true Round Table spirit, there’s a charitable twist. Those who donate blood at Mooirivier Mall will be rewarded with a free double brandy and Coke at the clubhouse bar, not a bad trade-off for doing good. It’s a relaxed, tongue-in-cheek community event that captures what Round Table is all about: having fun while giving back. Details at a Glance Date: 18 October 2025 Venue: Round Table Clubhouse, 1 Piet Bosman St, Potchefstroom Tickets: R100 (includes a quarter chicken, bun, and salad) Contacts: Hannes – 072-627-7147 | Gert – 081-465-0539 If you’ve never played Rolbal, now’s your chance, someone will be on hand to show you the ropes. - True Personalized Education Seminar with Annerine Wenhold - 14 October
Education that fits your child, your family, your future Families in Potchefstroom will soon have a chance to explore a more individual approach to learning at the True Personalized Education Seminar, hosted by Kairos Academy SA. The event takes place on 14 October 2025, from 10:30 to 13:00, at Geelbus Party Venue, located at 58 Kanaal Road, Potchefstroom Rural 1. Entry costs R250 per family, which is probably less than the average monthly stationery bill. What It’s About The seminar, led by Annerine Wenhold, founder and director of Kairos Academy SA, will focus on how families can navigate the American High School Diploma (AHSD) pathway right here in South Africa. It’s not about throwing out the textbooks, but about reshaping how education can work around a child’s strengths, pace and family life. Attendees can expect a straightforward unpacking of the AHSD pathway and its requirements. There’ll be plenty of real stories, practical tools, and a strong Christ-centred vision guiding the discussion. In other words, no jargon-filled lecture, just real talk about real education. Why Attend If you’ve ever wondered how to make homeschooling or alternative learning lead all the way to matric-level success, this is your chance to find out how it’s done, and to hear from someone who’s been making it work for years. You’ll also walk away with tools and examples that could make your own family’s learning approach a bit smoother. Booking and Contact Spaces are limited, and while that’s said about most events, this one actually means it. To reserve a spot, contact Henriette on 082-783-3770. Event Details at a Glance Date: 14 October 2025 Time: 10:30 – 13:00 Venue: Geelbus Party Venue, Potchefstroom Cost: R20 per family Contact: Henriette – 082-783-3770 Education isn’t one-size-fits-all, and this seminar seems to acknowledge that better than most. Whether you’re already knee-deep in lesson plans or just wondering what “personalised education” actually looks like in practice, a morning with Annerine Wenhold might just leave you thinking differently about how learning can fit your child, not the other way around.

- Mandala Dotting Werkswinkel in Potch - 11 Oktober
Jy kan Aldi kontak by 083-381-6222.

- Louis le Grange Road Temporarily Closed for Rehabilitation and Paving Works
The JB Marks Local Municipality has confirmed that road rehabilitation and paving works have officially commenced today, Wednesday, 08 October 2025 , along Louis le Grange Road , between the Chief Albert Luthuli/Dassierand and Ross Intersection in Potchefstroom. The project is part of the municipality’s ongoing infrastructure improvement programme aimed at enhancing road quality, traffic safety, and long-term connectivity across the city. Image: The Go-To Guy Creations Details of the Closure As part of the scheduled works, a temporary road closure is in effect from 08 October to 22 October 2025 . The closure enables the municipality’s technical teams and contractors to safely conduct full-scale reconstruction, including ground stabilisation, drainage improvements, and asphalt paving . Motorists traveling between the Central Business District (CBD) , Industrial Area , Southern Ikageng , and Klerksdorp are advised to make use of the alternative routes provided. Directional signage has been placed at key points to assist with route diversions and ensure safe traffic flow around the construction site. Municipal officials have requested residents to exercise caution when driving near the work zone and to adhere to all safety signage and temporary traffic management controls. Purpose and Expected Outcomes The Louis le Grange Road rehabilitation forms part of a broader initiative by the JB Marks Municipality to upgrade deteriorating road surfaces and strengthen critical transport corridors across Potchefstroom. According to the project brief, construction will focus on structural reinforcement, surface resurfacing, and the correction of uneven road layers. The estimated completion timeframe is two weeks , subject to weather conditions. Once completed, the road upgrade is expected to: Improve driving comfort and reduce travel delays; Enhance road safety and drainage efficiency; Support smoother vehicle access to business, residential, and industrial zones. The project demonstrates the municipality’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure investment and responsive service delivery in line with its long-term urban development strategy. Municipal Statement and Public Cooperation The municipality has expressed appreciation to residents and businesses for their patience during this period, emphasizing that short-term disruption will lead to lasting improvements in road quality. In an official notice issued earlier this week, the municipality stated: “The temporary closure is essential to facilitate safe and effective construction. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and thank the community for its cooperation as we continue to invest in improving Potchefstroom’s road infrastructure.” All necessary barriers, warning signs, and on-site supervision have been implemented to maintain safety for both workers and motorists throughout the construction process. Wrap-Up The rehabilitation of Louis le Grange Road represents a key milestone in the JB Marks Municipality’s continuous effort to modernise its road network. By investing in durable infrastructure and structured planning, the municipality aims to create safer, more efficient, and more connected routes for residents and commuters across Potchefstroom. #TheGoToGuy #JBMarksRoadUpdate #PotchefstroomInfrastructure #RoadRehabilitation #MunicipalDevelopment #SafeTravel 🚧🛣️🏗️🚦
